Please note: This event is at a different location than usual.
Happy Holidays! Please join us Wednesday, December 12th at 7:00 PM for our 2012 Holiday Euchre Tournament. This year's tournament will be held at Cafe Racer. This will be the last meetup of the year, and because Cafe Racer is "all ages," we hope you will bring your significant others, families, and children to this special annual event. Feel free to RSVP for all in your party, but let us know in your comments who will be playing in the tournament.
It is important you arrive no later than 7:15 on the night of the tournament to ensure placement in the tournament bracket. We will start the evening at 7 by handing out score sheets and going over the rules. Our hope is to begin tournament play no later than 7:30.
Format: Progressive (Each player for him/herself). We do not expect to have a number of players that is divisible by 4, but we'll make sure everyone plays the exact same number of games with a good mix of partners and opponents. You probably will not play with the same partner more than once, and due to time restrictions, you probably won’t play with or against every player in the tournament.
Game play: During Each round of play, each player deals twice for a total of 8 hands. In the case of a misdeal, some players may be given an opportunity to deal 3 times in one round. At the end of 8 hands, personal score sheets are filled in by your opponents and verified by yourself. Each player then moves on to the next table as instructed by the score sheet or the tournament organizer. Note that each team may end up with more or less than 10 total points after 8 hands are played.
Tournament End: We will not have enough time to complete every scheduled game. Therefore, we will not start any more scheduled rounds after 10 PM. Players with fewer rounds played will then have an opportunity to play a final round so that every participant has the same number of games played during the tournament. If there are fewer than 4 players in the final round, additional partners will be determined first by previous schedule, and second by card draw. Scores in the final round will not count toward the “additional” partner’s final score.
The Winner: After everyone has played the same number of tournament games, each individual score sheet will be tallied, and the participant with the highest score will be crowned Tournament Champion. In the event of a tie, the following tie breakers will be used:
First tie breaker: Head to head victories
Second tie breaker: Total victories
Third tie breaker: Fewest opponent points
We hope many of you can make it. Good Luck!
