WTF Planning Pitchers

Now that summer is coming to a close I'd love to talk to folks about revving up for the fall meetup season. CodeChops will be hosting a re-boot of the wildly successful and always entertaining "WTF are you working on?" series of events. We are calling for speakers to talk for 15 minutes each, 4 speakers in a night shotgun fashion.

So let's have a few beers and talk about what evenings work best for folks, get some speakers to volunteer and set up the first meeting.

So if you have a project in progress that you'd like to talk about, please stop by. This does not have to be a programming project! If you are doing something cool, high tech or low tech, we'd love to have you in the mix. We really want to hear what going on in the community.

See you Wednesday!

If you are interested giving a 10-15 minute presentation at one of our upcoming "WTF are you working on?" events please sign up at the link below. These will be TED talk style. You can have slides or not. It can be technical in nature or not. Even if you don't like speaking in front of groups this is a fun thing to do around a supportive group of folks. We want to know what you are working on, what you find interesting, etc. Maybe you can find other in the group that can help bring your project to fruition.

4-6 is a two hour window where people can stop by. I'm not expecting everyone to sit down and have a "meeting" but rather mingle and chat about things, come up to me or one of the other organizers and sign up to talk, basically just hang out. some folks have to be home right after work so here is an opportunity to ditch work early and still make it home on time.

Four is a little early! I cant be the only one who doesn't get off till five, right? I'm doing some somewhat interesting stuff with html5 canvas animations, converting flash content, mobile and desktop gaming, graphing, etc.

Unable to make it tonight but interested in building connections with the local development community. I work for the UO as an iOS/Android native mobile developer and am a partner in Rising Tide Innovations ( www.rti.io ), a Eugene/Portland startup focused on supporting the civilian drone sector. I’m happy to present. At the UO, I make enterprise-distribution apps for emergency management and facility operations. I’m currently working on a project that pulls in campus space and equipment data and presents a unified interface for analysis/editing/tasking. An interesting project in terms of 1) interior, interactive mapping, 2) fast querying and editing of large data sets, and 3) pushing legacy systems into a RESTful API and mobile client. The software side of RTI is a CRM suite for drone operators in markets like real estate, ag, insurance, and oil/gas. I’d be happy to demonstrate our MVP in progress. With all the partners, we could also talk about drone hardware and policy/regs.
