The U.S. House of Representatives has passed the King Amendment to the Farm Bill, which could wipe out laws that have been passed by the states to protect animals. The House and Senate are working to negotiate an agreement on the Farm Bill. Scott Beckstead of the Humane Society of the United States is hoping that in addition to contacting representatives, some Oregonians will write letters to newspapers.
