Let's meet for a journey through the picturesque and tormented Sicily of Vincenzo Consolo. This documentary rediscovers Consolo’s remarkable voice through the words and images of his native Sicily.

A story that the writer experienced first-hand, along with some of Italy’s most important intellectuals (Moravia, Levi, Pasolini, Sciascia). In Italian with English subtitles.

FREE EVENT - Italian with English subtitles

Ludovica Tortora de Falco will answer questions after the movie. Since 1991 she has divided her time between Paris and Rome. She attended various specialization courses in language and cinematic technique, including the Ateliers Varan in Paris. In 2007 she founded the production company Arapán Cinema Documentario.

Sorry but I didn't have time to stay afterwards. I see they were just opening some bottles of something but I had to dash. Hopefully I'll have a chance of mixing and chatting with you all at another function. Thnx Andrew for organizing it.

That's okay, Janos! They opened bottles of Prosecco and there were some snacks as well. We are looking forward to meeting you at one of our upcoming events!

Yes it is a problem to find each other in a room full of people,, especially for the first time. Also saw the message, to stay after the show to late, on my way home. The film was interesting, though as a non Italian speaker, would have been nice to have some English introduction...thanks for organizing and see you next time Andrew.

I actually recognized you, Richard, and I was trying catch up with you before you left ! Anyways, next time we will announce a place to meet after the event. Thanks for coming and looking forward to see you soon!

I liked the event, especially since I have not heard of Vincenzo Consolo before. He attempted to reinvent the Italian language as a protest against the language used by the elite and the media were an interesting aspect of his literary work.

Sorry, I couldn't see your message on the Meetup because I don't have an I-phone. Just a regular cell phone. Don't tell me what I have missed. I don't want to have regrets...

I won't tell you all the details. Don't worry, there will be other events at the Italian Cultural Institute in the future.

I'm not sure if I will be able to come on time or even to make it. I have an appointment with my doctor and the waiting delay is usually very long. We will see!

    • Andrew

I hope you can make it. It will be a good documentary!

I have reserved for 20 people. Please remember that if you have RSVP'd, it means you are sure you are coming. No Shows and last-minute cancellations are not fair to the group nor to the Italian Cultural Institute since your spot has been reserved by them. It is very important to respect the rules to which every member of this group has agreed to. The movie starts at 6:30 pm and will be followed by a discussion with the director. I recommend you come 15-20 minutes earlier to get a good seat!
