Sparring now weekly!

We have seven combatants fully ready to spar, and a Second Cohort starting. Come join in the fun!

NEW TIME: 12:30 (instead of 12)

We're splitting the daily schedule out by level, to that everyone gets enough time to train and play!

Our newer zugadore are working through the foundational material as well, so its a great time to jump in and start. We have some sparring gear within the group, and we have a large stack of poly longswords, so folks are starting to spar. Come join the fun!

12:30 noon - 1pm Opening drills (all students combined into one class).

1:15 - 2:45pm - Beginner course (2nd Cohort) The focus will be on the stabile poste.

1:15 - 2:45pm: Intermediate drills Brian will work with the remaining First Cohort students on intermediate material.

2:45 - 3:30pm: Integration sparring and challenge bouts.

Just so everyone knows, it's been MONSOONING up here all day.

It is super wet and rainy up this way. Maybe a good time to start looking at that Kailua option (although James and Kate would need a ride, as well as Katy and any others from the Honolulu side). Sadly, looks like a cancel for today. :-(

Do I need to bring anything to participate? I'm totally new to this, and I may just hang back and get some photos.

John - Comfortable shoes and such for the first little while. Flat shoes are good, but not required. Looks like next Sunday, at this point, though, due to the weather. Please do feel free to simply observe, although you don't need any equipment to jump in.

Mark - We have had SSG students as young as eight before, and that person remains with the schola to this day in Dallas. In fact he won a tournament last Fall, if I recall. But certainly you and your son are more than welcome. Sparring could be an issue, however; have to check Hawai'i laws about martial arts encounters between adults and minors. I'll check on that this week.

Gonna be pretty rainy. We may still have practice under the sheltered area, but it'll be light. Unless anyone knows of a good alternate location?

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
