this Meetup is announced to the Group
Hello everyone. Have you heard of the Specialist People foundation? Originated in Denmark, The Specialist People Foundation works to enable jobs for young people with autism and similar challenges through social entrepreneurship, corporate sector engagement and a global change in mind-set. And it is finally coming to the US!
The idea is that most young adults with autism have one very specific area of expertise and have a passion for details. They can become very valuable employees working on very specific tasks, such as software testing, data analysis, IT in general. "Specialist People" offers autistic people to join an assessment program and identify their talents, rather than focus on their difficulties.
It helps detect autistic person's potential for a valued and valuable role in the labor market by identifying meaningful job opportunities they may not have thought you had.
Finally, they allow autistic people to find their place in society with a job they enjoy, and get great self-esteem from being an active contributor to the world.
Specialist people have already opened agencies in 7 countries worldwide and one agency in Minnesota.
I have been in touch with the founder of Specialist People, Thorkil Sonne, and the Director of Minnesota Agency, Tim Hanson. They are coming to California in May, to discuss the possibility of opening an agency in the San Francisco Bay Area. They would like to meet with organizations willing to get involved in "Specialist People California".
Would any of you be interested in meeting with them?
Thorkil's journey has been featured in the media, such as Harvard Business review, Wired Magazine, BBC News, etc.
