It was hectic and got out of control often but the discussion overall was interesting.

Another fascinating experience for me. Thanks to everyone for being gracious enough to allow me my temporary melt-down & giving me another opportunity to grow. After the meet-up we discussed various possibilities & agreed the topic for the March 18 meet-up would be from "aesthetics" (branch of philosophy dealing with such notions as the beautiful, the ugly, the sublime, the comic, etc., as applicable to the fine arts, with a view to establishing the meaning and validity of critical judgments concerning works of art, & the principles underlying or justifying such judgments) with these two primary questions: 1. What is art? 2. How can we judge art? Actually, this isn't a burning topic for me, but I thought it might be fun to visit The Dallas Art Museum on Sunday (2/28) for lunch & to get a better "feel" for the topic. It was good, of course David was the antagonist giving us many venues to explore and discuss. It turned out to be a great topic that could be continued at another meeting - thanks to those who arranged and thanks to everyone for contributing to the conversation!
It got a little heated in this meetup, but it was mostly passion not hostility. Despite the passionate stances held by many people, nothing ever digressed to incivility.

I would really love to attend and discuss the topic. Thursday is never possible for me, so I hope a future event is on another day. Best wishes.

At the last meeting, the attendees consensus was for the Feb 18 meet-up to be on a sub-topic of politics. Specifically, three questions: Do we actually need a government? If so, what should be the function/purpose of government? What is the role of "civil dissobedience" within government?
