Liebniz. He is significantly underrated and a little weird, but as I grow older -- I start to finally "get it".
Seeking freethinkers who do not have the same set of beliefs as me! This will expand my perspective greatly.
The love of wisdom. People who love to seek truth and wisdom are philosophers. Analytic skills are necessary, but wisdom goes beyond logic puzzles. It's hard to find people with that balance.
I recently graduated with a Philosophy degree and I am tired of talking to my self and one other friend about certain things. I also would like to speak with people with different points of view than I.
The group is friendly and seems to be eclectic in culture and thought. I think there was a great male to female ratio, which is not something I experienced in school and other philosophy groups. I hope to create some new friends here, especially as I have begun exploring my personal philosophical beliefs again and share things I am reading. I just graduated so it's so different for me to look at my beliefs from a social, personal, and "no determined end point" stance, rather than a "How well can I convince you so I can maintain my 4.0?" The group is open-minded, reasonable, and good-hearted. It seems open for all whether you know a lot of things or know very few -- are a fierce debater or just like to throw things out there -- like to talk about things from logical points of view or from practical points of view. One should not be intimidated by people who seem to talk a lot or hold the floor -- even a timid person can jump in. Great experience so far. Good job everyone.
