I appreciate the views of many philosophers, particularly Ayn Rand although I've been most influenced by Emerson &Thoreau due to their existential emphasis. But mainly, I trust myself so I guess that makes "me" my favorite.
I love talking with people who give more than lip-service to the idea of "thinking". Even if I disagree with the conclusion that someone has arrived at, I enjoy hearing their view when it's clear they've thought about their response vs. having a knee jerk reaction. Too often, people will defend a view simply because they've been taught something and have never taken the time to examine why they believe what they do. I can always learn something, even if it's what not to do or what appears not to work.
Philosophy for me is a guiding principle for my life. I read/listen to others opinions, think about it, keep what makes sense and throw the rest away. Questioning thinking (my own & others) is, I believe, the essence of philosophy.
I am a curious person who loves learning. I enjoy discussing ideas & hearing other's opinions to try to understand how they arrive at their conclusions.
I truly enjoyed the different perspectives which were presented cogently and respectful of others.
