I worked very hard on learning German in my teens and 20s-- up through reading Goethe and Schiller & living in Germany for about 6 months. Now in my 50s, I'd like to rekindle that interest in knowing a foreign culture through its language.
I'd like to know whether average Germans actually pay attention to all those rules about word endings! Seriously, though, my cultural interests are 'green' building and transportation (the broadly used adjective 'grün,' from German, seems to have taken hold!); Baroque and Romantic classical music; fine horse-back riding; Bavarian towns with murals on the buildings; the Velo-taxi company in Berlin; modern multi-family housing that is really attractive for families. I translated a book from German called "Modelle für Humanes Wohnen," but it hasn't been published. (See used original copies at Amazon.de if you're interested.)
What do you mean you're not coming to the singalong? Sorry you won't be there. You were so nice about fitting me in to the singalong at your house. Next time!!! Ronnie
I think you should bring your instruments too - what lovely harmonica polyphony we had yesterday. Please, don't be shy to share your talents to be enjoyed by others. Also, thank you for your compassionate attitude shift - not everyone is capable to be insightful and flexible with their point of view. So much trouble inflict pain in our world - all due to our inability to correct the obvious mistakes... I really appreciate people like you, Bruce.
