Weekday paddle - Cedar Creek

A few of us are planning on paddling on Cedar Creek this coming Monday, Aug 5.

We plan to meet at 10am at the girl scout camp inside of Double Trouble Park (GPS Coordinates:[masked],[masked]). See directions below.

We will then do our own shuttle, to get some of the cars to the take-out area at William J. Dudley Park on Rt-9 in Bayville.

People who do the trip should have some experience on piney rivers/moving water. This paddle involves a portage over a concrete spillway at the end of a lake that we will cross along the way.

Directions to the put-in area: Parkway South to exit 77. At the end of the exit ramp, turn left. At the light, turn right onto Pinewald Keswick Rd. Go 9/10ths of a mile and turn left onto the sand road, just past the Berkley law enforcement building. Follow signs to the canoe launch. Go past the parking sign to the end.

Sorry; but the Photobucket URL did not copy over correctly using cut-and-paste.

    Trying it again: http://s227.photobucket.com/user/rcowles9/library/2013-8-5-Cedar-Creek?sort=2&page=1

Because this Cedar Creek paddle was a joint paddle with the Garden State Kayakers and the Exit-109 Yakers meetup groups; I decided to download my photos to PhotoBucket rather than download all of them to both kayaking websites. You can view my photos here:

Be sure to Single Step through the pictures rather than viewing them in Slideshow Mode, so that you can see the Captions at the bottom of the pictures.

A great day out on the water, with a great group of people. Was fun to paddle with some old friends again, and was a pleasure meeting Gail and Liz. Look forward to paddling with you all again in the near future.

Hi...I am new to group. I am not a very experienced Yaker but not a bungler either. Piney rivers/moving water? I am willing if not an inconvenience to others.

Thanks for an informative response. I am inclined to give it a go, so if all goes well, see you Monday.

Cedar Creek is pretty clear of strainers and obstructions. They even took out the keep right/get left log that has taken people out and both sides of the lunch beach underpass was clear last time I was there. Double trouble to Dudley is a pretty quick run, I'm 90% sure I can make it.
