Comedy Night! (Charity Show)

Let's enjoy a night of side-splitting stand-up comedy, by the "all-stars" of Singapore's up-and-coming local comedians!
(Note: the show is in English.)

"Comedy Connection" is a comedy show featuring an "all-star" lineup of Singapore's best up-and-coming local comedians, and headlined by professional comedian Jonathan Atherton.

This is also a fundraising show, and tickets are a bargain - only $10 per person for a night of comedy and laughter.

What are we raising funds for?
We're raising funds to help out one of our fellow comedians, Augustin, who is a Ghanaian college student studying in Malaysia (he will be one of the performers at the show). Augustin was diagnosed with a heart condition earlier this year - and because of the unexpected medical bills, he now owes his school money. His school won't let him take his remaining courses or renew his student visa unless he clears his debt. So all proceeds from ticket sales will go towards helping Augustin pay his student debt.

Now, you probably don't know Augustin... but it doesn't really matter. Because no matter how you look at it, $10 for a night of comedy and laughter is an amazing value for your money. The fact that the money goes to a good cause is just icing on the cake.

Featured Comedians:

Jonathan Atherton - Founder of Comedy Club Asia, and one of Australia's finest standup comedians. “Astounding, incredible, unbelievable, fabulous and gifted” [Jakarta Post]

Umar Rana - Founder of Comedy Masala, Singapore’s best weekly standup comedy open mic night

Fakkah Fuzz - Singapore’s fastest rising comedy star, “... a young Eddie Murphy” [Time Out Singapore]

Fin Carew - British comedian who has headlined comedy shows all over Asia (including Hong Kong, Manila and Singapore)

Jinx Yeo - "Goes for the jugular... a breath of fresh air from the usual japes of Kumar or Hossan Leong" [Today Online]

Sharul Channa - Singapore's first (and funniest) Indian female comic (without the Adam's apple)

Rishi Budhrani - "... elaborate set-ups... excels at mocking racial stereotypes..." [The Sunday Times]

Augustin Dennis - The African comedian who has “taken the Kuala Lumpur comedy scene by storm.” [Time Out KL]

Date and Time: Monday, October 15th, 7:15 pm
(The show starts at 8:00 pm, but we'll be there from 7:15 pm to mingle before the show. Show duration: ~ 2 hours)

Venue: The Basement Cafe @ SMU Underground Concourse
(Singapore Management University, School of Information Systems, 80 Stamford Road, #B1-62, Singapore[masked])
(**If you don't know how to get to The Basement Cafe, see the directions at the bottom of this write-up)

Admission: $10 - pay at the door

(Although the venue is a "cafe" in SMU, alcoholic drinks are available at the venue. The venue also serves food, if you'd like to have your dinner there.)

When you reach The Basement Cafe, ask the doorman for a small orange sticker - then paste the orange sticker on your shirt/blouse, to identify yourself as a Meetup member. This way, you'll be able to spot your fellow Meetup members, and other Meetup members will also know that you're from the Meetup group, so they'll say hi to you.

In addition to the above, you can also look around for a table with a "MeetUp" sign - there should be at least a couple of tables reserved for our Meetup group.

If you can't find anyone wearing an orange sticker, and can't find the MeetUp sign, you can ask the ushers for "Jinx" (that's my name). I also have quite a distinctive look (I'm a Chinese guy with a shaved head and black-rimmed glasses - basically I look like a monk with glasses), so it shouldn't be hard to find me.

If you still can't find us after trying all of the above, you can contact me at the phone number below. (Please only use this contact number if you've tried looking for people with the orange sticker, and looking for the MeetUp sign, and asking around for me, but still can't find us - because it's a nightmare for me to try to answer a few dozen calls/SMS-es simultaneously.)
Please only use the contact number on the day of the event itself, and please do not use it for asking frivolous questions.
If you have any questions before the day of the event, please post them in the comments section below, and I will answer them within 1-2 days.
Thanks for your co-operation.
Jinx (that's me) -[masked]

This is a non-profit show - all proceeds from ticket sales go towards helping Augustin pay his student debt.
