We're going to the museum now. So if anyone is still coming you can find us there.

      Platform 10. We'll meet downstairs.

    • Yang

      OK, see you tomorrow.

Since with these strikes it is not easy to predict the exact time of arrival, let's say we'll meet between 14:00 and 14:30 in front of the Reisezentrum.

    1 · October 18

  • Astrid G.

This means we'll be 5 people and the event will take place!

    October 18

  • Astrid G.

So if I got it right there'll be Alua, Nurbiah, Yang and me. Anybody else?

    1 · October 18

    • irfan

I'll come too. I live in Oberhausen

      1 · October 18

  • Astrid G.

Thank you for your comments! As long as there are people still able to come, we'll keep the trip planned. Buses, trams and trains that do not belong to Deutsche Bahn ( for example the "Eurotrain" ) are still running. And as we know that there might be delays, let's say we'll wait for each other until 14:30, o.k.? And if somebody cannot make it till then, give me a call on my mobile: [masked] 39.
    BTW, who is still coming?

    October 17

    • Nurbiah

      I'm coming

Hi, Astrid, I will come. When and where can we meet at Duisburg Hbf tomorrow?

      1 · October 18

  • Astrid G.

Unfortunately the train drivers' trade union called for strikes for the whole weekend. Will it be possible for you to come to Oberhausen anyway? Or shall we postpone the event? Please let me have your opinion!
As regards Yang and me, we can take an "ERB"-train ( does not belong to Deutsche Bahn ) but we will either only be in Oberhausen at 14:15 ( train leaves Duisburg at 14:10 ) or already at 13:15. There's a good Chinese takeaway at OB station where we could grab some food while waiting. What do you think?

    October 17

    • Astrid G.

Strassenbahn, bus and trains that do not belong to Deutsche Bahn ( i.e. "Eurotrain" ) are still operating.

      October 17

    • Astrid G.

Please let me know who is still coming. If we are 5people or more ( at least half of the number that signed up ) we will still meet. I'll let you know my decision tomorrow evening at the latest. Please check the group postings then.

    • irfan

Duisburg: take bus 939 from Duisburg Hbf to Oberhausen Hbf. Or come through Müllheim.

If anyone need any other information, feel free to ask me.

      October 17

  • Astrid G.

So, who is going there from Duisburg? There is a train at 13:44 from Duisburg main station that will be in Oberhausen atg 13:49. Hopefully there won't be any strikes.
I suggest to meet with all participants from Duisburg at the staircase going up to platform 10 where our train will leave from. We'll meet downstairs. At ca. 13:30 / 13:35. O.K.?

    October 15

    • Astrid G.

In every station there is a travel center of the Deutsche Bahn, REISEZENTRUM in German, so I think the best idea is to meet there. I don't know Oberhausen station that well so I don't know if there are any other places which are easy to recognize, so REISEZENTRUM is the best place to meet.

      October 16

    • Nurbiah

      Okay, see u there :)

      October 17

  • Alua

He guys! Is anyone going from Essen Hbf?

    October 16

I will be going from Essen Hbf.

    Dear all,
I'm sorry but an unexpected date came up on the 12th so I had to change the date. Since I guess some of you might take advantage of the long weekend at the beginning of October for a short vacation, I decided to postpone it to the 19th. I hope this date is also o.k. for you. Time and meeting place remain unchanged.

Hi again, Yang, I just see you're also coming from Duisburg. So we can meet here at the main station and go together.

    August 28

    • Yang

Hi, Astrid, thank you very much for your reply about interpretation, so it seems I can go and get some information about the history of Ruhr Area, cool. I am very happy to meet with you at Duisburg main station and go together. Please let me know when and where is convenient for you?

      August 28

  • Astrid G.

    Dear Yang,
To be honest, I'm not sure. If they don't have these headphones on which you can choose the language or any other kind of translation, I will try to translate at least the most important facts.

    August 28

  • Yang

Hi, thanks for organizing, by the way, is there a English interpretation there?

    August 27

  • Derek C.

Won't be able to make it I'm afraid. Enjoy the museum and I'll see ye again

Ah, I'm sorry. I only read Drews' post and not the text above. However, I don't mind, haven't seen any of the two yet.

This is a different museum. I'm sorry but I only found a German page: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/LV... but of course we can also visit Zollverein. Why not do both? Not on the same day, of course!

    May 29

  • Nanunani

Hi there, though I'm living in Essen for... three years or sth, I haven't made it to Zollverein yet. So if the date fits, I could join you. What about Sunday or next week's Saturday?!

    May 29

  • Drew D.

I am planning a visit to the Zollverien soon if that qualifies
