Knit & Crochet Café/Beer

For those who like to knit or crochet but also fancy a drink and good conversation.
Knit & crochet is quite popular in Norway and has started to be trendy again these past few years, and it's a good way to occupy ourselves during winter or rainy days ;-)

thanks to all the joiners, it was nice to knit with you ;-) I hope I have given the envy to continue to the beginners. I am not a teacher so I did my best...

Is it okay to come even though I come from Norway? Or is this only for people who have moved here? I just realized what Expats means.. I would love to join you though!

No worries, no need to be there at 5 pm. For everyone, just come when you want. But if you want to come early, you can ;-) I have not booked, just said that we would show up and knit, so the only risk is that the place will be busier later.

Hi again, I think I have found a good location for this first Knit Crochet Café.
I went to Tea Lounge, and ask them if they would not mind us sitting there knitting and after some explanations ;-) they are ok with it.
I have changed the time to 5 pm. I am not sure I will be able to make it that early, but if you are there before me, you can just sit on the right in the back of the room.

Just in case : 2 stores I have found in Oslo that sell knitting stuff :

    See you!

Also if you live near Storo, at Storo Storsenter, there is a yarn-shop at the top-floor, next to the gym(Sats). They have a wide variety :)

I have yarn and needles, but no idea what to do with them. Would anyone be willing to show me the basics?

Just to be sure everyone has understood, this meetup is about knitting & crochet. So if you're not coming for that, you will find the event quite boring I am afraid.

Hi Ladies....wish I could make it to your event. Unfortunately, we are not moving to Drammen/Oslo until October or November 2013. I will keep an eye out for another crochet session later in the year. I think this is a fabulous idea and it really encourages me that I will be able to meet some lovely people....and crochet up a storm with great conversation. Cheers :)

Thanks Laurie, I will check that. I had no time to look for a place in July. I will do that next week.

So DEFINITELY IN :) I'll try to get my needles from home in time (they are in the "heavy, not urgent to bring with me in summer" stuff)

    July 2, 2013

    • Laurie

Hi Margot! They have cheap knitting/crochet stuff at Nille shops.

      July 5, 2013

    • Margot P.

I saw that yes. But I inherited a ton of needles from my great-grand mother that I love to use.

Ok, I am happy to see people are interested. I still need to find a place to do it. I think cafe laundromat can be a good one. Any other ideas?

    2 · July 2, 2013

    • Rianne H.

To be honnest...laundromat might be a bit busy! Would be nice to have some space!

I also found this Knitting café group http://www.ravelry.com/groups/s...
They go to Santinos, don't know the place but does not seem to be that great...
And Sub Scene has apparently had already hosted knitting group before.
I will check that out too in july & august.

I saw that Cafe Tamara in Grunnerlokka also hosts knitting nights ;) I've been trying to get something like this together for sometime. Looking forward to a little stitch 'n' bitch. Thanks for the initiative!

    • Nathalie B.

Hi, I will try to go to kafé tamara in july, to see how it is and if we can have it there. Thanks for the idea.

      July 4, 2013

  • Rianne H.

Great idea...much more fun than knitting all alone at home :-)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
