Free Oslofjord geology guided boat trip

The Natural History Museum in Oslo is organizing a free guided boat trip (in Norwegian) through Oslofjord on September 16 (Sunday), connected with Geology Day 2012.

The boat trip is from 10:00 to 14:00, and the boat starts from Rådhusbrygge 3, by Rådhuset (City Hall). It's a good idea to come there 15-20 min before the boat leaves.

Here is my mobile number:[masked]

More details: http://www.nhm.uio.no/besok-oss/arrangementer/2012/geologiensdag-battur-16sept.html

The boat will probably be M/S Lånan (the boat from the 2011 trip): http://www.laanan.no/ Coffee will be sold on board, and you should bring some food with you if you think you will be hungry.

A nice time out on the fjord and lovely to meet so many people. It was a shame that the microphone on the boat didn't work so as a 'Geology Guided' boat trip it was pretty poor.

GOod news everyone-the guide promises to do this tour in both Norwegian and English since we are a huge group.

Excited to make the trip! Sounds like super fun and informative too, for those who love the Earth Sciences! Looking forward to meet up with the rest of the bunch too :)

Hei! Any news about whether the tour can be in English? Also, will there be space for all 43 of us?! :-S

I guess it depends on the weather and the day of the week. The turn-up rate is 100% on sunny days on free events on fri/sat. Can be as low as 20% on rainy days.
I think I can only promise the museum 20 people will show up for sure. I do not think the museum would do it in English if I can only promise 20 people.
Hrmmm, maybe I should start to black list people!

Looks great. I'd love to do this. I should be in Oslo at that time but won't know for sure yet so I'll wait to sign up. Hope there is no attendance limit. As I still remember Norwegian ;-) I can be of assistance in translating the information if need be, to English that is.

Alex, nice photos from last year. I'm really looking forward to this trip now. And I really hope they would consider to have this guided tour in English

Alex, do you know how many people can the boat take? I'm thinking i could ask them to have the explanation in English if we have more than 20 people.

There were also some people who didn't speak Norwegian, and the guide was saying some things in English as well.

I will give them a call to explain that we would like to have the explanations in English. It is up to them then whether they want to explain in Norwegian or English . It would be great if we can get at least 40 people for this meet -up so that we would have stronger bargaining power.
