Please join us as we kickoff Expedition First Coast, sponsored by Black Creek Outfitters! This event will include an interactive hike through a coastal maritime hammock and tour of the formal gardens led by a certified Florida Master Naturalist Instructor. We will also visit the unique shoreline of coquina rock formations that line the park’s Atlantic beach and participate in an engaging activity focused on sea turtle nesting season which began on May 1st. This event will appeal to children of all ages.
Space is limited, so please register now. This event is free, although there is an entrance fee to enter the park unless you hold a Florida State Parks Annual Pass. The cost is $5 per vehicle and correct change is required. The event will begin at the Visitor Center located inside the park entrance on the west side of State Road A1A. Restrooms are available at the Visitor Center and picnic area. A portalet is available at the beach.
To maximize your enjoyment, we suggest the following:
• Wear appropriate hiking shoes, preferably ones that can get wet as you explore the coquina rocks.
• Trail snacks (this is a lovely park with ample picnic space if you choose to pack a lunch to enjoy after the event)
• Insect repellent
• Rain jacket (this is Florida after all)
