Experience ice skating at Assiniboine Park!

Come and join us as we skate around the duck pond like graceful swans ;)

The Riley Family Duck Pond in Assiniboine Park provides a unique venue for family fun. In summer, visitors can stroll along the waters edge and admire the variety of waterfowl that take up residency here. Skating is a favourite winter activity made more enjoyable in the outdoor setting of the Park. The Duck Pond shelter provides a heated venue to warm up as well as a facility to change into your skates.

We have had many skating events at the Forks with varying success - some of us enjoy falling over more than skating!  We gained skills and confidence, and now are raring to go!

We will meet in the warming shelter next to the duck pond. There are washrooms in there too.

The Plan:

3:30pm - meet in the warming shelter, hand out lanyards, do introductions, change into our skates

3:45pm - get out onto the skating pond!  We'll explore the whole duckpond by skates, popping into the warming hut for a snack, warm drink, or warm up when we feel the need

6:00pm - time to say goodbye and head home

Please Bring:

• ice skates (there are no rentals)

• warm winter clothes (dress in layers)

• warm gloves or mittens, and a toque

• your Experience Manitoba lanyard (if you don't have one, you'll receive yours at this meetup)

• camera (optional)

• thermos of a hot beverage (optional)

• snacks (optional)

Sorry, I missed everyone. I went to the wrong park to the wrong Duck Pond--Duh. I knew it was at Assiniboine Park, but my wires in my brain got crossed. Next time I will get it right. I was so looking forward to skating with all of you--sorry again.

I wanted to ask Anne M if that was her lamb in her photo. It's a very cute pic.

Hi Sandy. I'm still struggling with a bug that kept me home from work this last week and it would be best that I stay home instead of out on the ice. I'm sorry to miss this and apologize for the short notice. Have fun and don't take too many spills. L

We're sorry you won't be joining us Sharilee - just so you know, PayPal doesn't charge you any fees, even if it's for a small amount. We look forward to seeing you at another event sometime soon!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
