Come and join us as we skate around the duck pond like graceful swans ;)
The Riley Family Duck Pond in Assiniboine Park provides a unique venue for family fun. In summer, visitors can stroll along the waters edge and admire the variety of waterfowl that take up residency here. Skating is a favourite winter activity made more enjoyable in the outdoor setting of the Park. The Duck Pond shelter provides a heated venue to warm up as well as a facility to change into your skates.
We have had many skating events at the Forks with varying success - some of us enjoy falling over more than skating! We gained skills and confidence, and now are raring to go!
We will meet in the warming shelter next to the duck pond. There are washrooms in there too.
3:30pm - meet in the warming shelter, hand out lanyards, do introductions, change into our skates
3:45pm - get out onto the skating pond! We'll explore the whole duckpond by skates, popping into the warming hut for a snack, warm drink, or warm up when we feel the need
6:00pm - time to say goodbye and head home
