We particularly encourage new members to attend - this is the perfect opportunity to come and meet us all and find out what we are about -we're a friendly bunch and we'd love to meet you!

(Below: Some of our members enjoying the activities at last year's winter gathering)

2:30pm - welcome address by organizers

2:45pm - games and activities

About our special guest: James Duncan obtained a Ph.D. in 1992 from the U of M for research on the Great Gray Owl. James is the Director of the Wildlife Branch of Manitoba Conservation where he is active in local, national and international biodiversity conservation initiatives including species at risk. He has researched owls for over 26 years and has published scientific papers, books and symposium proceedings on owls from around the world. James was awarded the International Champion of Owls in 2009.  He and his wife and fellow zoologist, Patsy have banded over 2,000 owls in Manitoba!

Please Bring:

• your Experience Manitoba lanyard (if you don't have one, you'll receive yours at this meetup)

• a dish to share in the pot-luck: main dish, salad, dessert, side dish, (tea and coffee will be provided).  We have access to electricity to keep your hotpots warm too. Please only bring enough food for about 6 people... we appreciate your generosity, but we always have WAY too much food and don't want to be wasteful. Our pot-lucks are renowned for being diverse, yummy and easy on the eyes (just like our members)

• you don't need to bring any layers or extra outdoor clothing - there will be no snowman competition this year, so no outside component to this event!

PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION DETAILS

We invite ALL members, whether you're going to attend the winter gathering or not, to enter photos in the photography competition.  Photos will be voted on by members who attend the winter gathering, but you are still eligible to win even if you're not in attendance.
