Meet up at Blue Note

At this “adult” Village jazz joint, “legends” take the stage to serve up “soulful” music in a room equipped with “incredible sight-lines and acoustics”; despite “watery drinks”, “so-so” American grub, “cramped, love-thy-neighbor” seating and too many “Japanese tourists”, aficionados say this “history-filled” club is “unmatched” in its class.

We might have to reserve a table/multiple tables. Each table is 45$ whereas bar reservation is 30$.

HI Everyone, I joined the group recently 'cause I'm also a huge blues and jazz lover. I can't make tmrw. Night unfortunately but I wanted to pipe in since I've been to the blue note. I think since its a meetup group and people might wanna interact then you should try for the bar. The seating there is extremely cramped and uncomfortable. That said...wish I could make it cause it would be great to meet ya'll. I'm pretty up on the blues/jazz/funk scene so if its cool i'll check for some upcoming shows in some clubs I'm familiar with that might be a little more comfy and cool for interacting. Crap...I hope this doesn't sound pretentious. My apologies if it does. Have a good time and hope to meet soon. Mike

Hey Mike, I believe the group will stand by me in saying that your initiative is most welcome. Please feel free to suggest any upcoming shows.

Hey Adi, thank you. That's nice to hear and I appreciate it. Look forward to meeting sometime soon.

      March 14, 2013

  • Adi

I believe most people here already know that Bar is walk in only (so no reservations required).

    March 14, 2013

  • janet

I also can't make tomorrow but look forward to other times. Ditto that bar is best place. I often go early 7 or so to get a great bar seat.

Any ideas on how to find each other? I can stay at the bar and hopefully the waiter/waitress can guide you to me. Any other suggestions are welcome too!

My number is[masked] in case you need to text me.

hopefully in the near future for sure.

    March 12, 2013

  • Adi

So in case its not clear, each individual who has RSVP'ed and has every intention of coming to the blues/jazz bar should please call them and make a bar reservation on their own. This makes it easier for me and for you too as everything ends up being your own call.

    March 12, 2013

  • San_Teresa

what's the deadline to take back your rsvp, incase one of us can't make it? ^^; Thanks again.

    March 12, 2013

    • Adi

I am not sure if that includes food. Its the reservation price stated by the bar. Also, its upon each individual to call make their bar reservation. The reason I modified it to such an option is allow each individual to decide on their own if they would like to come or not.

      March 12, 2013

  • San_Teresa

Does this include food? Sorry this is my first time ever going to a jazz club. It is pricey agree, but will keep checking back because I don't want to give up somehow.

    March 12, 2013

  • Adi

I have removed the limit to the number of people who can RSVP hoping that each individual will make their own bar reservation.

    March 12, 2013

  • Adi

For this Friday, a table reservation for an individual is 45$ whereas a bar reservation for an individual is 30$ (San_teresa is right). http://www.bluenote.net/newyork/schedule/moreinfo.cgi?id=10583

So the options are either we book two tables that sit 8 each or we just meet each other at the bar so that no one feels any pressure if they have to cancel at the last minute.

Would having a bar reservation free us up a bit more than sitting in a designated chair the entire time at a table?

      March 10, 2013

    • Adi

I think bar reservation is the way to go.

Well, we finally get a date and it's one I can't make. BOO! Have fun, I'll have to wait a little longer to meet you all :(

    March 10, 2013

  • Robert S.

Do we pay the night of the event?

    March 10, 2013

  • Adi

I am sure we can all chip in for a table or two. Let me call 'em up and find out how many people does a table accommodate.

    March 10, 2013

  • Andrea

That should be a good experience. Pricing is an issue now, though.

    March 10, 2013

  • San_Teresa

i need to sing the blues.....haha why can't there be a chipping in option? Does that mean each person has to pay $35? Just wondering.....there's still time. I'll change my rsvp if can't make it still....

Haven't been there for years. It was tiny and super dark at that time. If it's still around, it had to be renovated. Looking forward to the talent.

      Hey Andrea,

The following link details the show schedule. http://www.bluenote.n...
