Become a Tough Mudder!

Join the Experience THIS! team as we take on what is "Probably the Toughest Event on the Planet"! Here is a brief description from the Tough Mudder website:

"Tough Mudder is not your average lame-ass mud run or spirit-crushing ‘endurance’ road race. Our 10-12 mile obstacle courses are designed by British Special Forces to test all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie. Forget finish times. Simply completing a Tough Mudder is a badge of honor."

The obstacle course includes jumping into freezing cold water, crawling through tubes, climbing over walls, running through fire, and sprinting though hanging wires randomly containing voltage! There is an after party with a free beer for all finishers. You get a free event T-shirt, they have a professional photographer that tries to get at least 14 photos of each person, there are awards for everything from best times to best costumes, and if you are really gung-ho, why not get a Tough Mudder tattoo on site!

Still got your interest? I have entered the race and formed a group for our Experience THIS! team. Anyone interested in testing your limits in one of the ultimate runs on the planet, here are the details:

Date/Time: Sunday, Feb 26 (To give you time to prep yourself!).  I asked for a 10:00am start time, but my understanding is that this is more of a request than a guarantee. They stagger start everyone so our actual start time will depend on how many team members we have, their structure, etc.

Location: Vail Lake Resort, Temecula

Cost: All in was about $92 including fees (about average for a lot of running events like this). As you get closer to the event, the price does go up, so in September it goes up $10, in October another $10, etc.

Discounts: There are two discounts currently available:

     1) There is a group discount available after the event is over and depending on how many people actually join our group. This discount could be from $5 to $20 depending on the size of the group.

     2) There is a discount code you can use right now that helps on the initial fee (I believe it gives you $10 off, but no one has used it yet to report back on the actual amount). To get the discount type "challengeaccepted" in the discount code box when you sign up.

Group Colors: I will look into a group T-shirt we can wear during the event. It depends on cost and interest, so I will review it as we get closer.

How to register: Follow the link below to get to the Tough Mudder website and the team registration page. Use the password below to log in:

I am purposely setting this event up well in advance so that everyone has a chance to take advantage of the early bird price and also start training if necessary! Feel free to bring your friends along as this will be more fun with a larger group!

One final word of caution, this race is seriously a tough, physically challenging event. It is 2-3 times longer and much tougher than the typical mud run. Only 78% of the people who start typically finish the race. Some people don't train at all and can tackle the course, but if you would like to prepare in advance the Tough Mudder website has some suggested training routines!

Hi Patricia - let's rally a group. I really want to do one. Have you checked recently to see if we can still register? They tend to fill up fast:)

Hello everyone! The tough mudder is coming up soon! We have about 5 people who have been training and getting ready for the day. There is a nice hike coming up this weekend that would also be a good workout if you are interested. The is up to Monrovia Canyon and Ben Overturf trail. 7 miles and 2,000 feet gain. The hike is lead by the Passadena Hiking Pacers, link below. If you would like to come let me know!

Definitely! Also, there are 2 other people I know who are going as well, just not part of our group because they already signed up. So we should definitely be able to put some training days together when we get closer!

Awesome! We'll have to meet up to train a bit when it gets closer. Hopefully we get a few more to add to our group

I'm doing a half-marathon in april so this would be great training! I'm only doing 3-4 miles a run right now, but I'll be up soon enough
