For what it's worth, the only time I'm interested in paying an excessive amount for wine and dinner is when the dinner is associated with a worthy fund raiser. Otherwise I really like good value and service for my money.

I am not trying to run this Meet-up according to my wishes and demands. I just think from time to time people need to be honest in the beginning of a situation rather than to keep their mouth shut and then "stew" for the next week. We eat at Suite 100, South Side Bistro, Spenard Road House, Double Muskie, the Arctic Road Runner, Anchorage Diner, Humpy's and the Turtle Club in Fox. We really don't care as long as were are having fun (alone or with friends), and not getting gouged by the wine steward. So, please let me know if this club is for us or should we move on.

    Thank you ... Bob

I have the same questions as everyone else --- what time is the event, is it a really a "go", what's the cost, what's the menu, how many spaces are available for our meet-up group, etc.

The Tower's are within a very short distance from us and we have had good meals there before. Somehow from time to time, they seem to attract very good chef's. The ambiance is only so-so. Price would be an issue for us, as with certain wine, the sky can be the limit. When "Outside", we buy Trader Joe's wine by the case and occasionally find some of the Two-Buck-Chuck exceptional. I cannot tell ten dollar wine from twenty dollar wine. I wouldn't know what thirty dollar wine tasted like --- I'm talking Costco prices when I mentioned those prices. I guess I'm saying that I'm not interested in the snob appeal of wine.

    continued ...
