Let's walk the dogs - Coughton 2

  • Mar 8, 2014 · 10:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

This is Coughton 2 - but still with the welcoming Throckmorton Arms at the end of the walk.

The walk's around 5.5 miles and easy-going all the way.  There are no stiles, no cows or horses, and just a few meters of road walking on a country lane.

SHEEP: in one field and by a farmhouse definitely, and it's likely that there may be sheep and lambs in a second field because the feeders are already in place. There are sheep in adjacent fields to the footpath and so if you have a sheep-chasing dog please be very careful.

There are plenty of doggie swimming places, and a mix of young woodland, fields and a river path.

Throckmorton Arms menu is here:  http://www.thethrockmortonarms.co.uk/    and the landlord is OK with dogs and muddy people in the upper section of the bar and I've reserved this space for us. (On the right hand side as you go in through the front door.) There's a 10% discount on food orders if you're a National Trust member so remember your membership card!

What could be better than spending a Saturday morning in good weather walking the dogs and for me seeing Bo have such a good time (and wearing herself out - should that ever happen !!) Thank you everyone for your lovely company.

Amazing that we were able to sit outside at the pub - the glorious sunshine will soon dry up the mud baths we seem to be walking through all the time!

New members - please check out the group's 'Code of Conduct' before coming on a walk. It isn't long, and should answer most FAQs about the group - thanks :-)

As I'm sure you've noticed - there are fairly major problems with the Meetup site at the moment. All our personal details are safe, and all walks will go ahead as scheduled. If you need to contact me please either send a text, or use the contact form on the www.drivingwithdogs.co.uk website.

      March 3, 2014

Sorry I'm going to change this walk and go perhaps for Sundays as the sheep thing worrys me!

    February 22, 2014

    • Lezli

Sensible decision - the sheep are so unpredictable this time of year because of lambing

      February 23, 2014

  • Lezli

This walk is also scheduled for April, so do sign up for that one if you can't manage today.

    February 18, 2014

  • Lezli

Please would a couple of people volunteer to walk in the MIDDLE of the pack and keep an eye on the route to make sure no-one gets lost?
At the moment I'll be at the front, David will be at the back and it would be useful to have people in the middle too - you'll have a copy of the written directions but it's more a question of being a bit observant!
New members - we tend to walk quite well spaced out, and come together for exciting doggie swimming moments, etc
If a couple of people volunteer then the dogwalkers on the waitlist will be able to come too.
