Let's walk the dogs - Wooton Wawen

Popular walk with a mix of towpath, woods, fields and farm track, and a dog-friendly cafe to head back to.

No stiles, possibility of cows in one field, one section with free running chickens near a farm.

We should be able to see the hedges bursting into life with new leaves, and plenty of woodland wild flowers this week - if the sun has been shining!

This is a small group walk.

Great walk - I think I prefer it this way around, the hill did look really steep going downhill so I guess it is quite a climb going the other way round.
Thought the dogs were excellent with lambs bleating away!

I was only 5 mins late getting there as I got a little lost. By this time everyone had gone and I had no idea which way to go. I started out walking myself but then decided it was too cold and wet on my own. Louis and I were so disappointed as its quite a way from Leamington. However I will know where to go next time.

Looking forward to it. Just got to find out where Wootten Wawen is. I do have some idea though. I live in Leamington Spa so not far hopefully.

    March 25

    • Lezli R.

Wootten is north of Stratford on A, on the A3400 between Stratford and Henley. From Leam I'd normally go through Warwick, past racecourse and onto the Old Warwick Road towards Henley. Then turn left after Crabmill pub and down Pettiford Lane - Craft centre will be on your left.

      March 25

    • Lezli R.

Whoops, craft centre is on the right!

Sadly am needed to pick up grandchildren so cannot come. I did put it to them that they might care to walk home on their own and make their own tea but kids these days - no sense of adventure

    2 · March 23

    • Lezli R.

They could forage in hedgerows for tea, surely?!!!!

If you haven't done this walk before, the Yew Tree farm cafe and shops are really nice. There's a good deli and also antiques, clothes, craft supplies, old books and flowers.

Would loved to have joined the Wooton Wawen walk but have to be in Oxford on that day. It's a shame as Bo will miss the extra sausages for Rowan's birthday.

    March 16

    • Lezli R.

Bet you Rowan doesn't keep any for Bo!!!

      March 16

  • paula

Just realised it is Rowan's birthday - we will have to bring extra sausages to celebrate!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
