First Meetup for this group is the City's first neighborhood -- taking us on a journey from the 1620’s up to the present day as we cover five centuries of lower Manhattan’s rich and colorful history. One of the great stories is how New York evolved from an obscure Dutch Trading Post into “the capital of the world.” In many ways, the USA was born in lower Manhattan where the seeds of the American Revolution were sewn and where the stock market was founded in 1792. Magnificent landmark buildings and historic sites abound on this visit to the canyon lands of New York City including the Custom’s House, Trinity Church, the Standard Oil Building, and Federal Hall which served as America’s first Capitol.
This is a great tour for photography due to the amazing cityscapes and variety of architecture. This is a delightful area to walk around on the weekend due to lots of less people!
To reach the meetup location by subway, the #4 or#5 subways stop at Bowling Green, as well the #1 to Rector Street and the R to Whitehall Streets.
At the end of the tour there will be the option of hanging with group members for an informal lunch or brunch.
