Join us on a “River-to-River” walk across Manhattan from the Hudson to the East River
ending at beautiful Carl Schurz Park and Gracie Mansion. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in Central Park or along our journey. New York City owes its history and development to its location and waterways! We’ll also tell the story of the creation of Central Park and visit the site of a natural spring that was used by the residents of the Seneca Village community in the 1800’s! This amazing stroll will cover the history of Upper Manhattan's development from the 1600’s to the present with stops at many architectural treasures, iconic buildings and the extraordinary 5th Avenue mansions. Think of this also as a "Celebrity Tour," stopping by where so many famous people have lived including Judy Garland, Babe Ruth, Miles Davis, Jacqueline Kennedy, Bono, Fred Astaire, Margaret Mead, Andrew Carnegie, and Jerry Seinfeld.
This Meetup event entails approximately 3 miles of walking. We'll take a picnic lunch break in Central Park so bring what you wish to eat and plenty of water. Vendors available along the route of course.
