Repeating by popular demand! This unique walk is filled with architectural treasures, including the Flatiron Building, Metropolitan Life, the Victorian-era department stores of the Ladies Mile Historic District, Theodore Roosevelt's birthplace (his birthday is October 27th) and a rejuvenated Madison Square Park where you will hear the story of Stanford White, the famous architect who was shot and killed in 1906 at Madison Square Garden--one of his own design creations. The tour includes a stroll around the beautiful Gramercy Park neighborhood with a storied past all of its own. We will also stop by the home of America’s first interior decorator and a 19th century New Yorker who ran for President, won the popular vote but lost the election!
Walk ends in Union Square, where there are plenty of options for socializing afterwards and/or shopping at the Greenmarket.
