Starts in Brooklyn Heights!
NOTE: IF YOU ALREADY PARTICIPATED IN PRIOR BROOKLYN HEIGHTS AND LOWER MANHATTAN TOURS THIS WILL BE REPETITIVE SO A GREAT TOUR FOR FIRST TIMERS!
Meeting at 11:00am by the Newstand/Candy Stand inside the Clark Street Station of the 2/3 subway. This is first stop in Brooklyn if you are travelling from Manhattan. If you are walking from other subway stations or bus stops in the area, the station is inside the St. George Hotel Building on the corner of Clark and Henry Streets.
This tour will follow in the footsteps of Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. From the very place where George Washington gave his farewell address to his officers at the end of the American Revolution, to the Great Hall where Lincoln made his famous speech, this tour will visit various sites associated with U.S. Presidents. Along the way, we’ll explore the history of NYC past, present and future and visit interesting neighborhoods. Our adventure includes stops at the Plymouth Church of the Pilgrims in Brooklyn Heights and Fulton Ferry Landing (recounting George Washington and the American’s critical escape from the British in August, 1776). Back in Manhattan we’ll traverse the Financial District with stops at Federal Hall (America's first Capitol), Fraunces Tavern, St. Paul’s Chapel, and Cooper Union, where Abraham Lincoln delivered his famous speech while running for President.
Tour itself is free, bring a bag lunch and/or money for lunch. We will be taking the subway several times.
