Harlem Walking Tour - for Members who have yet to take a Harlem Tour!
Harlem's historic districts contain some of the City's most beautiful residential architecture and stunning churches. On this extraordinary walk we’ll start out in the Hamilton Heights, traverse Strivers Row/Nicholas Historic District and Astor Row, where you think you have been suddenly transported to the American South! We’ll stop briefly at Hamilton Grange (Alexander’s Hamilton’s home, built in 1800) and the Schomberg Center Library for a peek at the current exhibits including the one on the roots of Motown music and its impact on our culture. The tour will cover Harlem’s rich history, past, present and future and Harlem’s impact not just on NYC but the world. We'll talk about the evolution of jazz and how be-bebop started in Harlem. You will come away with lots of great ideas of where to return for eating out and live music and see why people from all over the U.S. and the world have been moving to Harlem.
Lots of options for brunch or lunch after our walk!
