Downtown Happy Hour and Uptown Jazz!

Happy Hour at the social headquarters of "Exploring NYC History and Neighborhoods!"  Once a month -- instead of a walking tour or event -- we'll simply hang out and socialize!  Feel free to drop in briefly or stay as long as you like.  (At 8pm heading uptown on the A train for jazz in HARLEM).  Join us for some informal networking and sharing your favorite New York stories and experiences.  This will also be a great time to suggest ideas for future meetup tours and events.

Gavin, the owner of the Dark Horse Tavern welcomes our group members and promises Happy Hour  Specials.  The Dark Horse is also our venue for our NYC Trivia Nights!   The Dark Horse has plenty of seating and a long, beautiful bar and good food!  Here's a link: http://www.darkhorseny.com/

In belated honor of International Jazz Day (which actually is Wednesday, April 30th), at 8pm those who desire will TAKE THE A TRAIN uptown (25 minute subway ride and a short walk) to the heart of Harlem for some live jazz at an intimate down home place called Paris Blues on West 121st & Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd.  Music starts at 9pm, no cover, generally one drink minimum and pass that hat for the musicians. The often have free food too. I will do a mini-tour on the walk from the subway to the club.

Cheers from Hank!

only went to the jazz joint - love trying different music venues - very enjoyable and met really nice people - would love to mix it up and listen to different types of music (blues) in the future - of course with a mini tour of the neighborhood first - thanks for exposing me to a new experience, hank

hey sorry...saw I was auto added...I unfortunately cant make it and can't adjust the rsvp as well...

    May 5, 2014

  • Hank O.

Rsvp's are important for the uptown jazz because of very limited capacity. The Dark Horse Tavern for the happy hour is a much larger space. If meeting for jazz you can either meet at Paris Blues at around 8:45pm or by theApollo Theatre on 125th Street at 8:35pm-8:40pm.

just to confirm, i am only going to uptown jazz - i should leave my name on the RSVP list ???

also, for those only going to uptown jazz, is there a time and place we should meetup with you ? or should we just look for you inside when we get there ? tx

Let me know if anyone who has RSVP'd is not planning to go up to Harlem afterwards. This will allow me to free up more space for people who are okay with coming to the Happy Hour. The Dark Horse Tavern has plenty of room but Paris Blues in Harlem is very small. THANKS!

I've RSVP'd "Yes" but can probably only make it to the UPTOWN portion of this event. Let me know, Hank, if that's okay and/or if I should change my response to "No" and just meet the group at Paris Blues?! Thanks!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
