NOTE THIS TOUR IS FOR MEMBERS WHO HAVE NOT YET BEEN ON ONE OF OUR LOWER MANHATTAN OR FINANCIAL DISTRICT WALKS!
Celebrate the 4th of July and NYC's role as America's first Capital with a historic walk through the streets of Lower Manhattan! This is the perfect day to follow in the footsteps of some of America's founding fathers, including Alexander Hamilton, the extraordinary immigrant and visionary from the West Indies who became one of the leaders of the American Revolution and our nation's first Secretary of the Treasury. We'll stop at locations where some of the seeds of the American Revolution where sown, as well as the exact spot where George Washington was sworn in as the first U.S. President. We will also enjoy the amazing architecture and rich and tumultuous history of the area. We'll start from the time when Lower Manhattan was known as the Dutch trading post called Nieuw Amsterdam in the 1600's and travel into the present day where Wall Street and the financial district is evolving into a residential neighborhood.
Walk will be approximately 1.5 miles and end around 12:30pm. Optional lunch/brunch/drink afterwards at Fraunces Tavern and Museum.
