Shooting Moving Subjects

Ever try shooting something that won't sit still? How about something flying through your frame or going around a turn at a hundred miles per hour? This meetup will give you some hands-on practice at the skills you'll need to tackle the subjects that are trying to avoid being tackled! (Great practice if you're planning to go on the eagle tour coming up!)

Great meeting new people, and seeing familiar faces, too! This was fun to learn, but not easy! I would love another meet-up on shooting moving subjects! THANKS FOR EVERYONE'S HELP. Perfect weather! You all rock!

I've got plenty of motion shooting experience, so would be happy to be a bike rider or something (if someone can bring a bike).

    1 · January 10, 2014

    • Andy C.

Jon, will bring my own bike if I can find the carrier. Mind you, I don't have any of those fancy Lycra bike outfits...

46 people so far! That's great! But it does mean that we're running a little short on subjects right now. If you know someone who would be willing to throw a football around, swing a golf club, ride their bike, or some other version of being a model in motion, we would greatly appreciate having them join us on Sunday so that we can keep the shooting groups small. Thanks!

I'll bring my Trikke. I'd actually like to have a few shots of me ridding. I might also bring my dog & flyball box. Regina has some recent experience with the challenge of shooting flyball in a poorly lit gym - outside should be easier. ... now if someone else can arrange a Wood Duck flyover, I'll be happy.

If anyone has a remote control airplane, that would be an excellent flying object of moving target.

I'm leaving from Blacksburg to the Salem location and I can accommodate up to three more people. If you desire a ride there, let me know where on route you wanna me with me.

I usually learn a thing or two on meets, but I might actually be able to offer some insight on this one. lol

    2 · December 30, 2013

    • Art S.

Oh Yes - I bet we could all learn a thing or two from you about shooting fast moving cars.

    Sounds like fun...

Ha, I have no idea what to expect! This will be all new to me but should help with getting better shots of wildlife. Would you agree?

    December 6, 2013

    • Jon B.

Especially if the wildlife is the type that flies around. ;)
