Pet Adoption Shoot and Volunteer Opportunity

Develop your skills, photograph adorable pets and help homeless animals find a Furrever Home.

Due to facility policies, to participate in this meetup, all attendees must be willing to fill out volunteer application prior to session. We will meet at the RCACP at 1pm, at that time Libby Carden, Volunteer Coordinator, will give us a brief rundown of RCACP mission as well as an orientation to the building. This shouldn't take long.

After filling out app and orientation, we will discuss some techniques and setups. We can set up a "studio" in the meeting room for cats and we will photograph dogs outside. Fast lens recommended for pets, speedlights optional.

We will have a sheet with all pet names and I hope you will consider sharing your photos with RCACP to be used for adoption sites.

This is a good opportunity to lend your talents for a wonderful cause and I hope you will consider continuing to volunteer at the RCACP. Photography is always needed as well as walkers. Come help a pet find a home!

Hello all! There are tons of pets needing great glamour shots at RCACP lately. Does anyone have a chance to get by soon and do any shots? Go to the volunteer Facebook page and sign up https://www.facebook.com/groups/707998592553583/ This will be some of the best use of your time and skills you'll ever spend. Saving an animals life.

OK--I got the rest of the cats for today Robert but I'm sure there will be more soon!

That is AWESOME! Thank you so much!

I would be interested. Have tried to get there, but would prefer to go with another photographer and when we could get handlers/walkers to help with the animals. I believe they would respond better with someone they know, rather than a complete stranger.

Rocco is coming home first thing in the morning. I've narrowed names down to Binx, Barnabus, Merlin, and Talon. Help :) He is such a loveable guy.

I like Binx :) Congrats on the new family member!

First off, THANK YOU for all the wonderful photos! We were able to update almost all of the available pet profiles on www.petfinder.com for the RCACP. Go check it out and check out your handy work and see the impression of your photos GREATLY outweighs standard intake photos. The impact this has on people looking for a pet on this site is immense!
And thank you all for uploading to the dropbox folders. If you have not loaded to the RCACR Dropbox folder, please send me your email address to [masked] and I will send you a link. This folder is a standardized folder for the employees of RCACP as well as some volunteers. This is the only way a pet can be uploaded to Petfinder. So please send me your email address and I'll send the correct invite to the standardized folder.
Again, Thanks for all you have done and I hope you will consider volunteering in the future. Thanks again.

Since I work just down the road, would it be alright to drop a CD with the pictures on it, off at the office?

I think I was able to share a folder with you in Dropbox. Here is a link to my FB posting.

Sorry all. Looks like the Dropbox thing is a flop. Don't know why the link won't let you upload. Send pics to [masked] and after that, I'll send you an invite to the folder

Here is a link to my page. You can see if there are any you want to use before downloading them from the Google Drive link I sent to you :)

If anyone has trouble uploading to Dropbox you can email me directly at [masked]. Also, if anyone uses Lightroom and wants a preset that I made for dog shots, email me and I'll send it to you

I think uploaded 5 dog and 5 cat photos (with photos identifying their names) to your dropbox - at least I think they loaded.

      March 30, 2014

  • Deborah S.

Robert, I loaded some images in the drop box...I think?!

Very worthy investment of time and skills. These animals deserve our best!!

One of the great things about doing pet photos at adoption sites is that it gets word out better than just waiting for foot traffic. In my experience, pet "Glamour Shots" increase the chance that people will see these pets in many forms of media and come to the site looking for that specific pet. That being said, it would be greatly appreciated If you all would be so kind as to share your photos for placement on Petfinder.com. I will assemble up to three photos for each pet and put them on the pet's profile. To achieve this, please upload your photos to this Dropbox folder https://www.dropbox.com/sh/edklx8i2xvoefzg/6LFDlzG7LF and I will put them up as soon as they're ready. Then go to Petfinder.com and check out all the great pets RCACP has to offer and take pride that you are directly helping a sweet animal find a "furrever home". I really do appreciate all that have offered to come take part of this event.

Do we need to bring anything other than our cameras and tripods?

    1 · March 30, 2014

    • Robert H.

If you have any squeaky toys or rattles for distractions. You may also want to bring a pocket full of small bite sized treats

      Great, thanks!

Can we bring props, squeaky toys etc?

    March 29, 2014

Very happy to see the great turnout for such a great cause. Just a reminder, each participant will be required to fill out volunteer application and go through brief orientation prior to taking photos. Weather should be very nice. Looking forward to seeing you all!

I've got a pretty full schedule but will try to make this one. The challenge will be to not come home with a rescue. If there are any boxers there, it's a done deal. ;-)

I love taking pictures of animals, especially my bunny. I do have to admit that most of the shots have been on automatic and not on manual... I am slowly getting more comfortable with manual settings. :)
