ExpressionEngine Show & Tell

Join us this Wednesday for another ExpressionEngine Show & Tell!  Bring an example of an ExpressionEngine website you've worked on recently, a single feature, simple trick, or just your curiosity.

We've coordinated this weeks meetup with some out of town guests – Michael Boyink and his ExpressionEngine Beginner to Intermediate Training class – so it will be a great chance to extend your network in the EE community.  As usual, after the event, we'll find a place nearby to grab a drink.

A big thanks to Doug for coordinating a room at his place of work. The location of this event is not too far from downtown Pasadena, and across the street from William Carey International University.

Here are some directions and the location of the room we'll be meeting in:

  • Take 210 to Pasadena
  • Exit on Hill
  • Head North (toward the mountains) on Hill. Left off the exit if coming from the west, right for those coming from the east.
  • Drive a mile or two, it will turn into a residential area. When you go through a light (Washington Blvd) and pass a RiteAid on your right you are almost there.
  • Turn Right onto East Elizabeth Street. (If you get to a light at New York Drive you went too far, turn around)
  • Go a few hundred yards, you will pass the main campus on your right. Continue on until you get to a small building on your left on the corner of North Sierra Bonita. This is 1605 East Elizabeth Street.
  • Park on the street, should be plenty of space at this time. There is a parking lot in the back if you prefer to park off the street.
  • The front of the building has glass walls/doors. Enter here. The room is to your right.

I am guessing that stopping for coffee and a ride at the coffee shop is going to be a little risky if no one else shows up there. There may be a bus that goes up the hill from the Allen Station. The same bus may not be going down if the meeting gets out too late. However, I know that there is a later bus down Lake Ave. to the west.

I can swing by and pick you up on my way there. I'm coming from parts east and it's more or less on the way.

It looks to me like GETTING there is easier than COMING BACK. There is a shuttle up the hill, but buses thin out on Lake after 9:00. So a ride DOWN the hill to the Gold Line would be appreciated if the meetup plans to go later than 9:30. Otherwise I will have to leave at 9:30.

Sorry, turns out I can't swing it tonight either! Have fun everyone and I wish I could be there.

Can't make it after all. Stuck in jury duty and won't have time for my son. Next time!

I am going to be in Chinatown and will need to take public transit to the event. But it is just a little too out of the way for that. So I will catch you next time, when the location is a little more convenient.

The gold line runs to Allen Ave and the station is a block or less from Jameson Brown where some folks may be going to work. Maybe you could get a ride with one of them?

That might work, if things time correctly, I arrive before people take off to the Meetup, and I recognize people at Jameson (James?) Brown. I'll play it by ear. I'll check the board tomorrow.

If anyone is interested in arriving early to beat traffic, Jameson Brown Coffee Roasters on Allen Ave has wifi and sounds like a good option if you want to work for a couple of hours:

    Hat tip to Doug.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
