This month we have our own Eric Lamb talking about disaster recovery and best practices. Here’s an outline of what Eric will be discussing:
- Detail 1 to 3 disasters (load failure, hacking and/or unique)
- For each outline steps of resolution
- For each outline Post Mortem process
- For each outline specific lessons learned.
Ideally, this will be more of a discussion format so we can all share different perspectives. That means come prepared with a few of your own disasters (even small ones!). This will be an open discussion so everyone can participate. Last month we had some great discussions that arose from Ben's talk, so expect more of that.
Ellislab has graciously provided us with another Freelancers license of ExpressionEngine to raffle off. In addition, Eric will be raffling off a single license of a new add-on he's releasing called Export It. Export It adds a CP panel that allows for the export of Channel Entries, Mailing Lists, Comments and Members as well as a full featured REST API on the front end for using an EE site for web 2.0 style stuff or custom scripts to export data.
Big thanks to kleverdog coworking for being our venue sponsor. Kleverdog is a wonderful coworking space in Chinatown that works as a great venue for meetups/events as well as being a collaborative workspace. Check them out at http://www.kleverdogcoworking.com.
If anyone is interested in bringing snacks, please chime in in the comments. Beer is always a welcome idea, as well as soft drinks, chips, whatever. I look forward to seeing you for the last LA ExpressionEngine meetup of 2011!
