Co-Ed Softball in Spring

Date/time/location is tentative and may change due to weather. We don't have a reservation so we may have to move somewhere else to play as we go. Please check this page again for changes and updates.

Let's play a casual game of co-ed softball. Both genders are welcome to come out! We'll just play for fun in the sun without getting too competitive. Bring a baseball/softball glove.

I want to stress that this is a fun, non-competitive game. Anyone who displays poor sportsmanship or treats anyone with disrespect will be BANNED from the group.

Disclaimer: Extremely Shy is not liable for any injury sustained at this event (or any events). Even though we are playing non-competitively, there is still a risk of injury.

Nice to meet everyone! Thanks for not hitting me with the ball after I pitched it, lol. It was good to see everyone hit the ball so well.

fun and loose game. i think everyone hit the ball, got RBI's and hit home plate at least once so it was great. the exception was that one guy outfielder who catches the ball with his bare hands. now that takes skill.

I was talking to guy tonight, and some teams from the WESA league are apparently practicing at this park at 11am and at 1pm Saturday. There are three diamonds, and since it's a long weekend, they may not be using all of them...and even if they are, they most likely will be done by 2:30 - 3pm.

Strathcona Park (Prior/Venable) close to Clark. I was there last weekend and we played softball without a permit. There are two softball diamonds. The other diamond was in use as well. Perhaps we could just show up and use that field ?

    March 21, 2013

    • Kevin

That's a provincial park, so that might be an option. I will try to find some place near SkyTrain first.

      March 21, 2013

  • Kevin

Submitted application to the city to reserve a field at China Creek North as my first choice.

There are a couple of diamonds near the Kensignton Complex in North Burnaby. Not the most convenient for public transit though. If we have our own bases, couldn't we just go to any elementary school?

      March 21, 2013

    • Kevin

Vancouver won't let us use their fields, but we may be able to use other fields in other municipalities or provincial parks. I'm going to try to find some place near SkyTrain. I rather make a reservation so we are sure to have a field if I can.

I'll be there IF I can find my mitt and ball!
    I have no bat.
    Location is?

Will we need to bring bats as well? I always have one in the trunk of my car... you know... just in case an impromptu softball game ever breaks out.

    March 15, 2013

    • Kevin

Yes, please. I hope that's the only thing you ever use your bat for.

      1 · March 15, 2013

    • Jeff T.

Well, I haven't encountered any impromptu softball games yet, so the bat has remained largely unused. I hope so too though, haha.

      March 15, 2013

  • Jonathan M.

Lol.....are u sure its only for that :P, jking,
Havent played softball in years, but it will be alot of fun to get back into it :)
