Italian Dinner and movie: "ICHI"

Welcome! This event will be merging with some other groups (a mix bag) to expand the numbers attending and to, hopefully, prevent a cancellation due to a low turn-out. We will be inside the cafe. Please read the following important details:

Schedule: Everyone arrives at 6:15pm sharp. We will eat dinner at 6:30pm and watch the movie at 7:30pm.

Italian Dinner: This option is closed. Please RSVP though but buy something from the cafe. Dinner costs $10 a person and begins at 6:30pm. If you want to attend the dinner event please indicate that you are, and if you are a Vegetarian or can eat meat. Please note that if you are having dinner you must arrive promptly at 6:15pm.

***Please do not change your mind for dinner at the last minute as I need to count how many want it so that there will be enough food. RSVPs close on April 26 at 9am. Thanks!***

Without Dinner: If you choose to opt-out of dinner and just want to see the movie, please be aware that you must buy something from the cafe.

Movie Synopsis: Ichi honors the classic tale of the blind samurai while casting the legend in breathtaking new light. In a role traditionally played by men, award-winning actress Haruka Ayase is both tender and brutal.

Beautiful Ichi wanders blindly from village to village, searching for the sightless swordsman who long ago taught her to kill. Her technique is exquisite and explosive, her defenses as impenetrable as the darkness in which she moves. Many along her solitary path are touched - some by the sound of her delicate music, others by the edge of her lethal blade. Also starring Shidou Nakamura (Letters from Iwo Jima), with original music by Lisa Gerrard (Gladiator, Dead Can Dance)

Duration: Approximately 120 minutes

Language: Japanese with English subtitles

Rating: R

After the movie: Everyone is welcome to chat awhile longer before we break it for the night. I hope to see you all there!

An excellent event, Akemi. I look forward to more movies. I love the venue and John is very good to us in allowing us to view movies at his coffeehouse.

I wasn't suppose to be there but I came anyways. Good meetup. Lots of great new people that I met and about 2 people I haven't seen in about 2 years. The meat dish was really good and I'll have to have it again when I go there. The movie was pretty good. It was moderately bloody but not disturbing. The fight scenes where great. I'm not sure how a blind person would walk from town to town but I suppose blindess would improve her combat a bit. The actress was quite lovely.

The cafe has a projector and a few large screen TV's, so the movie will be played in the cafe :)
