[ESV] June Mingler Party (Get Connected + Inspiration night)

New here or long timer? Looking to get meet wonderful friends? Nothing better to do? Come out to CONNECTIONS, an evening of awesome refreshments, great people, icebreaker activities and win prizes! This is a way to meet some of the many people in the group!

Many times people tell me they did not get to meet or talk to everyone an an event. And it's understandable, there are many constraints from tables and large number of people and etc... Thats why we have monthly minglers!

Join us for Extremely Shy Vancouver's (ESV's) first Connections Mingler event where you are likely to be introduced to at least a dozen people in the room. I'm sure you're all aware of how Speed Dating works. This is going to work in exactly the same way except it's not dating, it's just socializing!

The Cost is $20 at the door and goes toward room rental, food & snacks (appetizers, sushi, desserts and drinks), honorariums and prizes etc... We will also have an expert doing a TED talk on making a good first impression (read below)

Here are some benefits for speed socializing:

  • You get introduced to lots of people.
  • If you are normally a shy person, this eliminates the need for you to push your way into a clique that is already having a conversation.
  • And you get to have a conversation in a group setting with a new face every few minutes. How cool is that?

After the speed networking session is over, there will be lots of time for mingling and socializing.

I guarantee that you will meet lots of new people this evening in a very fun and friendly way. If you are new to the group, this is a perfect way to get to meet lots of other members.

Special Speaker:

We will have Published Author and Expert, Suzanne Price, who will be warming the crowd up with a "TED style" short talk, giving us some inspiration and tips on having good conversations and making that first connection. Suzanne has published books including The Stress& Burnout Awareness & prevention Guide and Relieve Stress, Anxiety, Burnout, PanicAttacks & Agoraphobia the Same Way I Did.

Suzanne's Website Shots 352a.jpg

Suzanne Price is an author, coach and motivational speaker who truly believes that some of the most valuable lessons we will ever learn will come out of those obstacles, and challenges we find ourselves faced with in life.

One of Suzanne’s own personal challenges was to overcome the debilitating anxiety, panic attacks and agoraphobia which she suffered with for about 10 years.  This was a condition which she now realizes had been brought on in part, by avoidance behaviours which were fueled largely by the fact that she was shy.  This meant that she was not that comfortable around people she did not know, she was too nervous to speak up in groups even when she knew she had something very valuable to say, and she found it difficult to initiate a conversation.

Now fully recovered and more confident than she had ever been before, Suzanne now spends much of her time searching for the solutions to some of life’s most common obstacles and fears which prevent so many people from living the life they dream of.  She then develops and teaches workshops to help those who want to overcome them.  Some of the most self sabotaging obstacles include fears, phobias, shyness, the fear of rejection, lack of confidence, not feeling good enough, feeling stuck in life and not knowing what we want out of life, finding out passion and purpose, and her favourite topics - making friends, dating and developing relationships.

Some of Suzanne’s books are:-

The Stress And Burnout Awareness And Prevention Guide

Relieve Stress, Anxiety, Burnout, Panic Attacks And Agoraphobia The Same Way I Did

How To Turn That First Glance Into A Date

New Year’s Resolutions, Goals, Dreams And Aspirations

It’s Your Life, So What Are You Going To Do With It?

Her Workshops Include:-

The Stress Less Boot Camp

Tapping Into Your Mind Body Magic

It’s Your Life, So What Are You Going To Do With It?

How To Overcome Shyness And Build The Confidence To Make Meaningful Connections For Life

Well organized, considering the sometimes hectic nature of my past Meetup experiences. Objective achieved: people actually genuinely talked to one another the majority of the time.

Some of us went to a Busker festival prior to the Mingler party. It was really hot and we were walking around for a few hours. Once I got to YWCA I sat outside and talked to a few people and decided it would had been better if I sat this one out. I probably got sick from the heat. I feel much better, thanks! Hope you can do more events.

Oh, I know that feeling too if I stay out in the sun too long. I will be doing a lot of events both free presentations in and around Vancouver and lower mainland over the next few months, for stress management, dating, and coaching events. If you would like to know when they are please send me an email on here I will add you to my mail out. Also, if you ever show up to one, please come and introduce yourself.

    Good Morning,

Last night was a lot of fun, the group was amazing and incredibly social, I would never have guessed that there were shy people in the room :-)

As I mentioned I think this is one of the most important social groups in the city and the mingler party is a great way for anyone new coming into the mix to get started.

Thanks for all your interest and great questions, if there is anything I can do to help just let me know. If you would like to hear about upcoming workshops or free talks please sign up to my website
http://thestressmanagementtoolbox. com And a big hand of applause goes out to the organizers. Happy Canada Weekend.

Good point Viral. It definitely doesn't hurt attendance to mention vegan food if we have it. If anything, the vegan crowd would be more inclined to come!

So close! Got as far as the building and, in attempt to find parking, was channelled further and further down Vancouver's one ways and overpasses until it seemed just too darned late...

    June 29, 2013

    • Suzanne P.

Oh no, that is too bad. I also ended up over on Broadway and it took me almost an hour to find parking. How frustrating.

    Hi Everyone,
I am really looking forward to this event. If anyone has a question about meeting people, making eye contact, how to work up the confidence to say hello, what it takes to develop meaningful relationships or friendships, first impressions or just about anything else on the subject then simply join this conversation. You can post a question here, or send me an email and I will do my best to chat a little about it in our talk.

I'd love to have the opportunity to meet each one of you at the June 29th social event. The only person that I have met is Ed. Since I actually don't know anyone either, if you'd like to arrange to meet me at the door so that we can hang out for a bit before the event then just say hi to me here.
