  • . CANCELLED/POSTPONED. THIS IS NOT HAPPENING MAY 25TH

    the event must be cancelled.

The original organizer is unavailable. please see message below regarding postponement.

DVC is an indoor shooting range in Vancouver where you can rent and try different firearms in a controlled non-violent environment. As a general rule the bigger the ammunition the more costly so that explains your primary price difference.

Have you ever wondered if a 50 cal can really knock you on your ass? Or maybe shooting is something you'll try for the first time. (caveat: target shooting is a lot of fun. You might get hooked...lol) It will be fun and it's worth checking out. I have never been here but I have friends who have come back with glowing recommendations and stories of fun. I have wanted to go check this place out for a while.
I am looking into a group rate as we "speak" to see about better

Sorry Ed... pull it down. the event will have to be cancelled for now. it's been three days with no responses.
If we reschedule this EVENT a commitment of a deposit will be required; otherwise the other members would be forced to pay the absent member's share. from the perspectives of both the business we are asking to reserve time, equipment and instructors for, as well as the other members, I'm sure you'll all agree it seems only fair. If we reschedule I hope you can all join us.

Tammy, You still want to go?, the reservation is for June 8th?, I think just very few people is interested, that's my guess.

      May 15, 2013

    • Tammy S

I do, however, THERE IS NO RESERVATION. This event is not happening.the date change to June eighth was just tentative but no one responded with a willingness to come forward with deposits in order to make the reservation so it had to be, at the very least, postponed. Sylvia ESV does not have a meeting at DVC on this or any other day at this point in time. Hopefully in the future that will change but it will require deposit up front in order to reserve a spot as a group.

    I can't go

Hi, I'd really like to go but I'm getting more concerned about some big exams I have to write overseas in the fall, and I'm afraid of forgetting to cancel in time if I find I can't go after all. So I might have to cancel now just in case!

    May 10, 2013

    • Elizabeth

And if I can go after all and there's still space, I will try to get back in!

Ok people...here,s where we are at: unless this time slot has remained open and we can all ante up today, my suggestion, rather than bail on this event, is to
reschedule with a papal on the event page up to reserve a spot for yourself to join the group outting. It will be @ 30$ each (for each group of ten)
those in agreement and willing to commit ( i can check with them to find a couple of dates and we can decide as a whole which would be preferred and then we can make a reservation)

---" Hey Tammy,I have booking slots available at 130 or 6pm on May 25th, outside of that we are pretty well booked up. If you would like to reserve one of the spots we will need to take a deposit of $300 to hold it. the packages are based on groups of 10, and have values of $650,$750,$850 (for a group of roughly 20 that price would double). Please let us know if you have any other questions or would like to reserve. Thanks, DVC Ventures: Vancouver Gun Range"-- Also, I would need a host to help me.

I passed on your questions and they told me to wait and to see if they replied to you. I didn't want to contact them also, I will be passing on your info to them.

      May 10, 2013

    • Tammy S

Thanks. I did hear back. They only had two spot left when i spoke to them and needed a deposit to reserve the spot. we can easily assume by the time everyone gets deposits in and the papal is set up to receive them, that this time slot, being close, will already have been booked.

  • Tammy S

The original organizer for this event backed out. no reservation had been in place to save this time and day. it is therefore unlikely at this point that we will be able to get deposits together in time to make a reservation for this date.

THIS EVENT IS POSTPONED. it IS NOT HAPPENING MAY 25TH.nor is it confirmed for June 8th.

I will rebook the event for June (Tentative date) if there is interest.you will be able to reserve a spot for a group trip to DVC with rentals ammo and instructions. Anticipate the deposit to be approx. $40.00. This IS NOT active now. I am only discussing options with you.
(Currently this EVENT IS slated for destruction)

(I would also require a host to work with me in case i am sick the day of) Please let us know if I should pursue this or simply head there on my own?

    May 11, 2013

    • Tammy S

If we want to forge ahead and create a reservation with DVC, i have been told that our mightly leader can set up a paypal link right on the event page for it to be as easy for everyone as possible for us to reserve a spot and book the date.  :)

  • Tammy S

question: does our host have a reservation of some sort? Do we have some assurance that they have enough to cover all of us as a group?

    May 1, 2013

    • Tammy S

Silvia, that would be great.!!! I used 20 as a number but have yet to hear back from them. We would need to know if they can accommodate a group together or if we have to be separated into smaller groups and rotate so we can all meet each other or how it can workout, if they have enough range officers and people to accommodate us all, etc., and what is any discounts are available or group rates are available. [Only people who are legal to transport to this gun range and know how to transport their own firearms safely can do so, so i think they are a non-issue. They can get any info they need about personal use. ( for anyone who might however, please check the DVC website linked above for all rules and restrictions regarding ammunition use at the range)]

Great work for taking Initiative, Tammy. If you want a 100% attendance you can talk with Ian about establishing a pay to RSVP system using payal.

Hi Dai, do you know who will be our instructor?

I had never use one but I'm really curious :)

There's no need to close all the gun ranges in Canada because of sensitivity about Sandy Hook. It's not like us Americans are closing OUR gun ranges because of Sandy Hook. I would love to bring my group's ESL students to the range, but I should get another part-time job first because shooting at the range is expensive... not like grandpa's backyard YEEHAW

    April 22, 2013

  • Ed

I'm not much of a gun person especially with the recent sandy hooks incident we should tread lightly in having these events.

I doubt that the 3,207 members of this group would be able to come to a consensus on where they stand on guns anyway, and thus, it would be pretty difficult to gauge how the group as a whole actually feels about this event. Some people may not like this, and others will feel the opposite way. I agree that this is just an activity though, and shouldn't be perceived as any kind of statement about current events.

Yes, I agree, Jeff. When I learned a little of rifle use in the Georgian Republic, I only saw it as a fun sort of target practise, and a little adventurous (we were camped in the mountains on an archaeological dig). It hasn't in any way changed my stance on the gun laws, warfare, etc.

      April 22, 2013

  • Elizabeth

If I can. If rescheduling, hope I can come to that too!

    April 21, 2013

Hi, sounds good, I used a rifle once in the Republic of Georgia. If I can, I'd like to come (but only for the cheapest one!).

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
