37th Annual Powell Street Festival 2013 - Day 2

Come celebrate the 37th annual Powell Street Festival for 2013! The Powell Street Festival is an annual celebration of Japanese Canadian arts, culture and heritage that features something for everyone: dance, music, film and video, visual arts, martial arts demos, amateur sumo tournament, craft vendors, traditional displays, and of course, tons of scrumptious Japanese food.

PSF is the largest event of its kind in Canada and the longest running community arts festival in the Lower Mainland. We provide a much-needed venue for emerging and established, professional and amateur, and traditional and contemporary artists in the Japanese Canadian and Asian Canadian communities.

When: The festival begins at 11:30am and end at 7pm. You are welcome to leave whenever you like.

Where: The festival will be held at Oppenheimer Park, located at 400 Powell Street in Vancouver. Oppenheimer Park is bordered by 400 blocks of Powell Street and Cordova Street, at the cross-streets of Jackson and Dunlevy. Please read below for the meeting place.

Picture says: This is the wrong entrance of the Field House. I will be standing on the other side of the grey building, partly facing Jackson Avenue x Powell Street.

How to find us: I will be standing at the doors of the gray Field House building in Oppenheimer Park that is facing part of Jackson Avenue and Powell Street. The "Oppenheimer Park" sign is adjacent to it. This Field House is in front of the children's playground. Please refer to the above picture.

Location Directions: You can reach the festival either by foot, transit or by vehicle. More information can be found here: http://www.powellstreetfestival.com/festival/get-there/

Cost: Admission is FREE and that includes live entertainment as well. You will still have to pay at concession stands and vendors.

***Please note: You are welcome to bring friends, family and children but you will be responsible for them!

Host Expectations: I am not a professional and as such I strongly encourage all attendees to this festival and future ones to explore and wonder the grounds freely. This is an "organic", loose event that is not strict and linear. In other words, if you choose to eat something and I, the host, chooses to listen to music then I won't hold you against your will. At the same time, we're all adults and I won't be your guide in this event as I do intend to have a good time as well. You are more than welcome to hang around with me, just please refrain from being clingy and go without any expectations in your mind. Remember, the main objective of this event and any festival event is to have fun, and that goes for the host as well!

Waiver: The host, group, Powell Street Festival Society, festival staff and associates are not responsible in any way for attending members. Members who RSVP YES for this event are solely and totally responsible for their own personal safety and well being before, during and at any time after the conclusion of this event. The host, group, Powell Street Festival Society, festival staff and associates shall be held harmless and shall be unconditionally free forever of any and all liabilities, obligations and responsibilities to any of the attendees, guests and all third party individuals, relatives and representatives.

Hi all, I'm rather dissapointed that no one met up with Akemi and I today. We only had 5 out of 20 signups yesterday, and maybe 4 for 20 today.
Please try to make it to events or sign up for, or at least un-RRSVP.

It sucks to have so many no-shows again. I would had came if I did't have to work. I think this festival was better than the lantern festival. This group does have a history for noshows. If they have time to rsvp. All it takes is a second to change the rsvp. I'm glad i'm not organizer.
