PNE & Genghis Khan Exhibition - 2013

Another year at the Fair! This year the Pacific National Exhibition has decided to make things 20% cheaper for us attendees and even added a really cool Genghis Khan Exhibition ($3 per person) into the mixture! For those of you who would like to complement the summer with a blast, come and join us and have some fun!

When: The Fair opens at 11:30am (closes late), and we will meet at that time at Hastings Community Centre.

How to find us: We will be standing by the sign and at the side (facing Hastings) of the Hastings Community Centre. Please refer to the picture. The centre is located on 3096 Hastings Street x Lillioot Street in Vancouver.

Note: We've chosen this location to meet rather than the fair ground entrances to avoid the crowd and mix up when attending members are gathering.

PNE Location: The PNE is located at 2901 East Hastings Street in Vancouver

Our PNE Fair Entrance: From the Hastings Community Centre, we will proceed across the street and walk west on Hastings Street until we reach the main entrance on East Hastings x Renfrew Street. Please refer to the picture.

FREE Shows we cannot miss: There are many awesome, FREE shows that are included in the admission price that we cannot miss! I would like those who are interested to stick by us for attending some of the shows. The ones that Akemi (Jeff and Anna Banana and Mila Chaniago maybe) will likely be seeing are the following:

Superdogs Performances in Pacific Coliseum are daily from 11:30am, 3:30pm & 5:30pm. "The World’s Most Popular Dogs return to enthrall audiences of all ages with crazy canine stunts! With wagging tails, this Fair favourite will keep children and families laughing and cheering throughout the show."

80's Forever Performances in Agrodome Plaza are daily from 6:30pm & 8:00pm. "It’s a totally tubular party daily at the Agrodome Plaza as we celebrate the decade that brought us the mullet and acid wash jeans. Grab your fanny pack and leg warmers and join in the fun! Groove to the music of your favourite 80s icons: Madonna, Wham!, Cyndi Lauper and Michael Jackson. It’s- like, totally radical!"

Family Feud LIVE Performances in the Family Theatre are daily from 1pm, 3pm & 6pm. "“Survey says!” Come join the fun as everyone’s favourite and long running game show comes to life in Family Theatre. Come be part of the live audience and you could get the chance to compete in this classic game show! Contestants battle it out, identifying the most popular responses to “the top 100 answers on the
board”.

*MAYBE* Summer Night Concerts Performance on WestJet Concert Stage at PNE Amphitheater are nightly at 8:30pm. There is an option to reserve seats per performance for $20. The performances vary. You're more than welcome to purchase a ticket in advance and watch the concert yourself. Akemi might just watch it from a distance or be with you in spirit because she's cheap.

Genghis Khan Exhibition: This is something Akemi wants to see too! The exhibition is open daily in Rollerland and costs $3 per person. You can read more about it here: http://www.pne.ca/thefair/exhibits-and-attractions/index.html#genghis-khan-the-exhibition

Website: http://www.pne.ca/

Main Fair Admission: Per Adult the admission is $16 (20% cheaper than last year). More information of admission, including the prices of rides (excluded from main fair admission) can be found here: http://www.pne.ca/thefair/

Playland Rides & Games: Since Akemi has a permanent back injury and issue, she cannot accompany anyone on any rides. Attendees are welcome to buy their own tickets and go by themselves or Jeff, Mila Chaniago or Anna Banana or with someone in the group on any ride that they like. As for games, and considering if Akemi is not cheap, she will play some games with you. Jeff might play as well.

Host Expectations: Akemi, Anna Banana, Mila Chaniago and Jeff Tay are not professionals and as such we strongly encourage all attendees to this festival and future ones to explore and wonder the grounds freely. This is an "organic", loose event that is not strict and linear. In other words, if you choose to eat something and we, the hosts, choose to listen to music then we won't hold you against your will. At the same time, we're all adults and we won't be your guide in this event as we do intend to have a good time as well. You are more than welcome to hang around with us, just please refrain from being clingy and go without any expectations in your mind. Remember, the main objective of this event and any festival event is to have fun, and that goes for the hosts as well!

***If you decide to bring family members or children you are responsible for them!

Waiver: The hosts, group, Pacific National Exhibition, festival staff and associates are not responsible in any way for attending members. Members who RSVP YES for this event are solely and totally responsible for their own personal safety and well being before, during and at any time after the conclusion of this event. The hosts, group, Pacific National Exhibition, festival staff and associates shall be held harmless and shall be unconditionally free forever of any and all liabilities, obligations and responsibilities to any of the attendees, guests and all third party individuals, relatives and representatives.

It was a really fun event! I went to PNE with other groups the last few year but this year was the most fun I had. It was a really good turnout. It was great to see Mako and Akemi get selected to family feud, they represented the ESV group really well. The Genghis Khan exhition was okay but i'm not going to pay to see it again. I really wish I didn't have to work so I could have more fun. I'm probably going to see PNE almost everyday because of work but it kind of sucks walking around alone. Hope you all had fun! thanks for organizing!

You can buy a one day pass for this for $16, but please also note a season gate pass is only $37.50. What I do is buy the season pass and see most of the exhibits on one day and then I go to several of the night concerts on other days. The concerts then become only $5 or so each (if you don't reserve seats, which isn't necessary if you get there early). I know I am showing my age here, but I will try to make it to Colin James, Foreigner, The Proclaimers, REO Speedwagon, and Loverboy. Is anyone else going to these? The tribute acts in the beer garden at night are also pretty good, plus there is beer. If you do buy a season pass you still need to pay $3 for the Ghengis Khan exhibition.
