At ESV we believe in making an impact in the community and are pleased to continue the tradition of partnering with a few community friends to give out spare clothes for the least in the city in our annual Christmas Outreach.
Picts from last year:
My friend Alice is organizing a homeless outreach event where we prepare packages to give away to the least in Vancouver. Christmas is a time for eating out and building community, but not everyone has that privilege, especially those who are homeless and are barely living day to day.
Got a spare sweater or spare blankets lying around the home? bring it over and prepare a couple packages to give away. Meet other people who are passionate about helping the homeless in the city.
This Sunday is an opportunity as we share our gifts of winter essentials and conversations with those in need in our city whom God loves and cares for.
We'd love you, your family and friends to join us for our annual Christmas homeless outreach on
Dec 22, Sunday
Tenth Ave Church (W 10th & Ontario)
Lower East Hall downstairs (parking and entrance at back alley)
This is a cross-religious event that we welcome everyone from any belief background to join. It is a grass-root, self-initiated event that relies on participants' donation of gifts, time and effort. We do not get any funding or donation from any organization.
Bring your donation of winter essentials and/or packed food and we organize them together.
Then we bring the gifts to our street friends in Downtown Eastside (DTES) with our conversations and smile.
Suggested donation of:
-Clothes, jackets (used ones must be clean and in reasonable condition)
-Socks (preferably wool as cotton absorbs moisture that makes feet cold and damage skin integrity)
-Packed food (e.g. granola bars, nuts, fruits, cookies, juice)
Anything you would like have in winter if you were homeless :)
WHAT IS IT LIKE?
Many came in the past commented that it was an eye-opener for them and that they are inspired by the people they meet in DTES. They’re drawn closer to God as a result.
One of the verses in the Bible which always inspires and challenges me is 1 John 3:17,
“If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?”
Come to bless our street friends and be blessed. Hope to see you there!
