St. Patrick's day @ Toby's (And Boardgames!)

Everybody
who attends is expected to
buy at least one food and/or drink item please!

Looking for a great way to celebrate St. Patrick's day?

Welcome everybody to our usual monday night board game event. This Monday is a little bit special since it will also be St. Patrick's day. So I want to invite everybody, regardless of whether you're into board games or not, to come and join us for a great night! We have the whole second floor of Toby's to ourselves. So come out, meet some amazing people, and hopefully you're find some games you like to play as well.

Things start rolling at about 5:00 although you're free to come any time after that. We're usually there until about 10.

(Toby's is where the little toon turtle, Tommy, is hangin' out)

Frequently asked questions

Question: I don't get off work until 6:00 and won't be able to get there until about 7, is that ok?
Answer: Yes of course. Most people usually don't start arriving until about 6, and plenty of people don't arrive until after 7 as well.

Question: Do I have to bring my own games?
Answer: Nope! You should bring any games if you can, but there are usually enough other people who bring games that there are more than enough to go around.

Question: What type of games do you play?
Answer: Check out the link at the bottom of this page. But we play a pretty wide variety of games. Some short and simple, some long and complicated.

Question: Where is there nearby parking?
Answer: There is parking underground Toby's (free) and also street parking on the east side of 10th if you drive down a bit

    This sounds interesting. I'm kinda nervous about going though. I'm not sure if I should say yes or not incase I chicken out later. ^^;;;

Happy St. Patrick's day guys. =)

I hope we keep this momentum for the next board game meetup. It would be great if everyone or most of the people that came out for St patricks day at Tobys come to the next board game at tobys as well. From the comments it sounds like majority that came had a great time.

Oh cool. this event was my first board games at tobys. I'm glad there is a good number of people that come out each week. I had a great time and I'm looking forward to the next one next week.

I was tired after work, but glad I made it! I could fall asleep by closing eyes for longer as being a Villager, but I survivied till the end! Story telling game (forgot the real name) was fun, too!

Although the game is great, I will not go again as i do not think it is useful for me to make friends. I can only make friends by having conversation .. Playing games make me difficult to engage in conversation.. Maybe I have different expectation

    March 18

    • Sarah

Hey Alex, I've been a handful of times and it can take a while to get conversation going. For me, when I arrive I'm usually really quiet so it's once the games start that I open up. My suggestion is that you give yourself a few attempts at the very least. Like Steve said, try playing the card games because that's when you'll have an easier time conversing with people. You can also start your own game - invite ppl around you to join - and then start conversations that way.

I hope you give everyone's suggestions a thought because you'll have fun if you give all of us a chance :).

Hey guys, just putting this out there again. For anybody that considers themselves a regular to this event, you can request to be made an event host. That just means that you will be automatically signed up every week. Leave a comment if you're interested in this! Also this Monday is St. Patrick's day! So I hope we can get a huge turnout. Wear your green clothes if you have them!

When is the best time to attend this, if it's from 5-10pm?

    March 17

    • Ian

Personally I think that 5:00 is the best time to attend if you're able to make it that early. Otherwise any other time is good as well.

      March 17

  • Allen

I am looking forward to making new friends. Anyone can be my friends. Just talk to me.

    Hi everyone,

I just joined the group and would be glad to attend a meetup but I'm not too much into board games and don't want to feel like I don't belong, would it be okay if I joined this event or should I wait for something else ?

PS I'd probably show up between 6 and 7pm due to work and transit.

    March 16

    • Joseph

Hi Nicholas, Welcome to the group. It would be a very good opportunity to meet some of the people in the group. We're there from 5-10, feel free to come when it best fits your schedule.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
