Apparently someone found a lost umbrella at the party. if anybody lost an umbrella, it's with the community centre's front desk.

The venue wasn't ideal but I had a lot of fun meeting new people and chit chatting with the people at my table.

    December 17, 2012

  • Ed

That was a really good speed that Ed gave at the end. I'm not sure if everyone shared the same values about consumerism, but it was really good.

It was a fantastic event where I have met lots of great people.

  • Jina

Can we go in if we don't eat anything?

    December 15, 2012

    • Ed

Hi Jina, our room is already at full capacity. People who are not registered with us by paypal or tickets cannot enter into the room. We do have the new years eve party coming up. (If we know how many people are interested, we will get a larger venue.)

HOW IS IT I WENT FROM A "YES" GUEST TO A PERSON ON THE "WAITING LIST"????

    December 15, 2012

    • Ed

the event is full, everyone who didn't confirm by paypal cannot be admitted. we did emphasize being on yes list does not guarantee admission unless you confirm by paypal or bought tickets.

If it is waiting list can't come right ?Please tell me

    December 14, 2012

We're sorry we had to cap off the event, we would love to have more people but its hard to find a bigger venue. Do check out our new years eve countdown party, there's no prepayment at this time.

If I show up with a first aid kit and act as a first aid attendant, do I get a discount?

    December 15, 2012

    • Ed

you have a discount already, everyone is already getting a discount. with turkey and food and a convenient venue at Bonsor (instead of YWCA) the event currently costs $30 a person, we're subsidizing the difference you paid. consider this as our Christmas present to you all.

Ed, I heard some people were coming drunk to the party, I think we should hire security.

    December 15, 2012

    • Ed

If you come drunk we have to turn you away from the party unfortunately. Unlike YWCA, Bonsor strictly prohibits alcohol and will have staff checking.

      2 · December 15, 2012

    • Ed

We may do a Doolins event sometime in January for the drinking folks

Hi there! Who's coming from downtown that night by Skytrain or who would rather go by car? Debating whether to drive (can offer rides) or go by Skytrain (City Centre or Stadium station)

parking will be hard to find, especially with so many people doing christmas shopping

      December 14, 2012

    • Wayne

Parking should be alright. There are actually 3 parking lots at Bonsor, although most people don't know where the 3rd is :D Afternoons are usually the busiest time, evenings should be OK. I don't think too many people will be parking at Bonsor and walking across the street to the mall. It's not allowed, and I don't think people are desperate enough to do that with 10 days to Christmas.

there will be karaoke afterwards http://www.meetup.com/Extremely-Shy-Looking-for-friends/events/95100962/

If you haven't got a chance to register we would like to introduce you to our new years eve party which we may be having. Please let us know your preferences here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dDhiZjREbWoyOFhTelJzQWFBSjFnUVE6MA#gid=0

I've been going to the Bonsor gym for years. It's gonna feel weird showing up there in a suit. I usually show up in sweats with a water bottle.

    December 10, 2012

    • Ed

you don't have to dress up in a suit, save that for a formal dinner. This is a semiformal/semicasual event. It's also a celebration as we celebrate the end of this fun filled year.

Hi Aki, great to hear you're all signed up. just bring yourself and a great attitude. Bringing a pencil/pen for human bingo would help with the limited number of pencils we have. See you there

Could you please tell me what the Extremely Shy a year at a glace contest is? Also, I am new and this will be my first meetup. :)

    December 5, 2012

    • Ed

Hi Ronda, we want to invite the Extremely Shy community to join us in reflecting the year we just had for a chance to win a prize! There are two ways you may submit:
1- Tell us a story about how Extremely Shy community has positively impacted you? (You met your current best friend through Extremely Shy? You find yourself at home with the Monday boardgames community? Tell us the story behind that!)
2- Submit us a photo (as a photo is worth a thousand words)
Submit these to us before Dec 14th for a chance to win a prize!

      December 5, 2012

  • Ian

The tickets for this event are now over half sold out and it's looking like they will be sold out by the date of the event.
So if you wish to attend, please purchase your ticket as soon as possible. Once again you may do so either online (see event description for instructions) or by arranging to meet with Ed to pay him in person. Once all 80 spots have been paid for, all yes rsvp's who have not yet paid will be moved down to the waiting list. Anybody wanting a refund for their ticket will receive one if we can find somebody on the waiting list to take their place.

Hi Max, you can pay at the door if there are any seats remaining. The best way to guarantee entrance to the party is by confirming ahead by arranging to get a ticket off me or pay by paypal.

I really wanted to go to the dessert mingler, and RSVP's and everything, but then at the last minute...I was too shy to go. lol...I really wanna go to this event, and I'm for sure going no matter what, but I'm worried I'll just be sitting at a table by myself with nobody to talk to. :O

    November 26, 2012

    • Ed

      Hi Candice,
feel free to come out to our xmas dinner, our purpose of a mingler is to help people break the ice. We take extra steps to make the first step as smooth as possible. At the last two minglers we provided everyone a cheat sheet of questions that is appropriate to ask others, we also had team challenge/icebreakers where the table got to know one another better by finding common things amongst each other.
Feel free to read my blog on tricks I used to break the ice with people. http://www.meetup.com...

    • Ed

Thanks for sharing your experiences Stanley. We all start somewhere and it is only in a safe non-judgemental environment we can find the freedom to understand ourselves and build community with others.
