Learn Photoshop Elements!

  • Mar 2, 2013 · 1:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This two day workshop is designed to get you completely comfortable using Photoshop Elements to manage and adjust your images. We start at the beginning - how to get images on to your computer and into Elements. We'll end with black-and-white conversion and how to use layers and masks to do advanced adjustments on your images.

The class runs Saturday, March 2nd from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm; and Saturday, March 9th from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. When you register, you're registering for both days (Meetup doesn't have a good way to create a multi-day event like this). The class is divided into two days so you can take time to practice what you've learned (and do homework!) before taking on the next chunk.

Here are the topics we'll cover:

Saturday, March 2th

Getting Organized
•Understanding the organizer and how to take advantage of all it offers.
•Getting images from your camera to your PC.
•Organizing your images for reliable backup.
•Renaming files as you import.

Basic Editing
•Fixing basic issues with your jpg files – color, tone, contrast.
•Fixing red-eye
•Exporting, sizing, and sharing images.

Saturday, March 9th

Working with raw files
•Why raw capture helps you over shooting jpg.
•How to process raw files using Adobe Camera Raw.

Advanced editing
•Fixing up people – fixing blemishes, red-eye, wrinkles
•Using layers to make adjustments you can change.
•Using masks to apply adjustments selective to parts of an image.
•Simple HDR using multiple exposures with layers and masks
•Making great black-and-white images

We're confident you'll find this a helpful and worthwhile class so we're offering a money-back guarantee. If you attend both sessions and feel you haven't gotten your money's worth, we'll refund your fee. It's that simple.

Your registration includes:
•8 hours of classroom instruction.
•Comprehensive written materials.
•Sample images for exercises with before and after versions.

    Hi Elton,

I am very interested in this class but unfortunately I'm going to be out of town that week.
Are you going to offer this training again later in the year?
    I really hopse so. Thanks!

Elton, I also have Elements 10, not sure yet if I can take class but really need it! Where is the class being held?

    February 18, 2013

    • Elton S.

Hi Sharon, the location is the clubhouse in my neighborhood. That helps me keep the cost down. The address is above... (Elements 10 will be fine, btw.)

Do we need to bring our own laptops ?

    February 16, 2013

    • Elton S.

Hi Ashley, Yes, you'll get the most out of the class if you can work along with me on your own system. If you don't have a laptop but can borrow one, the Elements trial will be just fine and then you don't have to buy a copy. You could haul in a desktop machine but that would be quite a bit of work for you. You're welcome to attend without a computer but I recommend a laptop if at all possible.

I have a laptop with Elements 10 on it so that is perfect ! I am excited about the class, Thank You !

Does the class offer the software at the end of it?

    January 31, 2013

    • Elton S.

Unfortunately with very few exceptions there isn't a mechanism for anything short of a community college to offer Adobe software with academic discounts. The Academic version is only available with the bundle including Premier Elements and even then the academic discount is only about $10. Your best bet is Amazon for a new license, which is about $70. Currently Adobe sells the upgrade for … $79.
