FAUN Animal Circus=Animal Cruelty demo @ Kelly Miller Circus Washington Twp, NJ

****ATTENTION, NY/NJ area animal activists!!****

Join FAUN in our mission to educate the public and expose the abusers at the Kelly Miller Circus when the caravan of cruelty rumbles into Washington Township, NJ.

Kelly Miller has a variety of animals, enslaving and abusing creatures as variant as camels, llamas, tigers, zebras, dogs, as well as traditional token exploitees: our friends the elephants. One doesn't have to be an animal rights activist to comprehend the intrinsic cruelty of taking animals from their natural habitats (or breeding them in captivity), confining them in cramped, horrible cages, conditioning them through pain, fear and a calculated program of negative reinforcement, as ALL circuses that use animals do. Elephants, tigers and other sentient beings enslaved by circuses suffer immensely from captivity-related diseases, and quite often die prematurely. The animals are beaten into submission as babies and perform out of fear from the pain of the bullhooks, whips, electric prods, chains - a cornucopia of insidious instruments of negative reinforcement and torture.

Work has been non-stop since starting this job last October so it was so satisfying on several levels to be present at this demo not the least of which was reconnecting with all my friends as well as making new ones. As Dee mentioned it was the children that showed the most interest in our signs and our talks with their parents, several even asking for their own copy of the handouts that their parents had already received. Much horn honking in support of our demo one mother even saying that she pulled her daughter from the summer camp program the YJCC as her own protest to their sponsorship of this cruel event. Hope to be able to see more of you this summer.

So grateful to al that showed and made the message of compassion heard loud and clear. I feel VERY supported by all in this movement and by the new souls that I have connected to it, students, parents of students, friends and family. It is VITAL . V I T A L !!! That we ALLLL bring others to these events and that we dont allow our PAST experience of inviting others who have denied or not shown to keep us in a space of not asking, reaching out, inviting. We ALL play a role and can play a role and make a difference for the ones that are not being heard. Although I was not in town I did what I could to contribute and invite all my people. We ARE making a difference we ARE being heard and we ARE moving forward.. It would serve our intentions to do all we can to bring more folks to this. My request is that we all commit to bringing at least one new friend to every demo we do.. Just a request.. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK ALL...

Excellent demo, almost 30 people came out to protest cruelty to animals at the circus, in this small Upper Bergen County, NJ town. The Chief of Police told me never, ever had a demo or protest ever been in their town before. He said he did not know what to expect, so there was a strong police presence, while we were there. At the end he said everything went smooth and no problems. Both shows were sold out, so lots and lots of people passed us by going in and out of the circus, in cars, walking by and via shuttle busses. Many comic and coloring books were passed out to the children and children did turn their heads to read our signs, so I always hope for a seed of compassion to be planted in the children, even if the parents pull them away from looking at us. Thanks to everyone who showed up and stood in the hot summer heat of today-- Great job !!!
