FETA Group - From Emotions To Advocacy based on Wrightslaw 5.00 5.005

The purpose of a FETA Group is to teach information and skills and provide members with support, guidance, and practical help to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to be effective advocates for their children.

Instead of parents showing an emotional reaction to school officals, parents can bring their concerns to the group and receive guidance about how to handle specific problems in developing an appropriate IEP for their child.

The FETA Group is based on the Wrightslaw Book From Emotions to Advocacy.

The groups facilitator is Valerie Aprahamian, who is a seasoned Special Education Consultant. She has 4 children, 2 of which have IEP's and are Rigional Center Clients.

Valerie has over 11 years experience in successfully assisting families navagate through the IEP process and develop an appropriate educatonal plan that will meet the specific needs of their child.

Valerie has taught Special Education Law and presented Inclusion Workshops throughout Southern California. She is passionate about working toward building a society that treats all children equally.
