Redwood City, CA - Redwood City is very proud and excited to again be one of the host cities for the San Francisco Giants World Champions Trophy Tour! Fans in our community and the peninsula can see the fabulous World Champions trophies from 2010 and 2012, have a professional photo taken with the trophies, and be part of the Giants' historic 2012 championship season. Our community can also support our local Junior Giants Baseball League by making a voluntary contribution during the trophy viewing.
It's all happening at Courthouse Square on:
Friday, January 25
11 am to 1 pm
Courthouse Square, Downtown Redwood City
Visitors should consider using Caltrain to come Downtown for the Trophy viewing. Downtown parking information is online. Beautiful Downtown Redwood City features many fine restaurants and shops, so fans are encouraged to visit, stay, and enjoy!
Fans will have the opportunity to have a professional photo taken with the trophies, by Giants Fan Photos. A very large crowd is anticipated for this event, and the Giants' goal is to accommodate as many attendees as possible for the professional photos, which can be purchased on-line and possibly on site depending on demand. The trophy tour is going all over, from San Francisco to New York and from Redding to Paso Robles - and to Redwood City! Viewing takes place only during the specified time and it's on a first-come, first-served basis. The viewings are free to the public with a suggested donation of $2 per person to the Redwood City Junior Giants League.
Information on the entire San Francisco Giants Championship Trophy Tour is online at www.sfgiants.com/trophy.
This will be the second public trophy tour held in the past three years. The focus of the San Francisco World Championship Trophy Tour presented by Bank of America is to share Major League Baseball's Commissioner's trophies, crafted by Tiffany & Co., with Giants fans in Junior Giants communities throughout northern California, including Redwood City. The trophies will be transported in a 2013 Sequoia Limited courtesy of Toyota.
Junior Giants is the flagship program of the Giants Community Fund, which serves more than 20,000 boys and girls in 80 underserved communities throughout northern and central California and southern Oregon. Junior Giants provides opportunities for children to demonstrate confidence and leadership, to link with adult mentors and to develop a strong understanding of the importance of literacy and healthy living. Locally, the Junior Giants has been running in Redwood City since about 1998 and serves 150 participants annually that would not normally have the opportunity or means to play baseball.
