OK!... The “End of the World, Solstice, Tilt of the Axis, Festivus” party is ON!!!!
Who: Anyone who wants to party through the apocalypse…. Including kids!!! Especially kids!!!
What: We’ll be having the following fun things:
Camping overnight in our entire circle of 5 camp sites.
Games: Best Festivus Cards (made on the spot, bring the kids). Best Festivus song (made on the spot, bring your instruments).
Evening hootenanny: (bring your instruments… oh, wait I said that! ).
Creating the Festivus Pole on the spot (we’ll be needing aluminum cans).
Bible toss (always a favorite).
Sing alongs (bring your voice).
Food (bring some for yourself, and bit for others… FLASH will supply the burgers/dogs/soda… We need chicken, other meats, and any other foodstuff that you might want to conjure up! Be sure to bring extra containers to bring home the leftovers.. I can’t eat it all!
Bonfire: (Festivus Fire?) Lots of fire for the “smores” crowd!
Debaptism! We’ll be takin’ that holy water or any other superstition from you and declaring you “religion free”. You will get an official certificate that you may send to your church/synagogue/temple/whatever, to officially remove yourself from their imaginary grasp! Awards and certificates: We hand out end of the year stuff to the people who’ve stepped up when we needed help…
Kite flying? (sure, bring your own!).
When: December 22nd at 10am, to December 23rd to approximately 2pm when we have to vacate!
Where: Markham Park in Sunrise: Here’s the link: http://maps.google.com/maps?oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&channel=fflb&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=markham+park,+broward+county+parks,+fl&fb=1&gl=us&hq=markham+park,+broward+county+parks,+fl&sa=X&ei=s2bTUJrMFoK08ATSnoH4Cg&ved=0CI8BEMgT
We have campsites K1 through K5. map here: http://www.broward.org/Parks/MarkhamPark/Documents/MarkhamParkMap.pdf
We’ll need: coolers with ice, coffee urns for large amounts, paper/Styrofoam cups, plates, utensils, barbeque utensils, large knives (we always seem to forget those!), bring your tents, sleeping bags, paper towels, lawn chairs.
PLEASE: let me know if you intend to come ASAP, so we don’t buy 1,000 hamburgers for 3 persons!
PLEASE, let me know what food you’re bringing, so we don’t end up with 17 watermelons and one steak ….
Anything else you need to know about Markham Park is on their website…
Also: they need us to be relatively quiet, especially after 10pm, or they my “disinvite” our group, so be aware of that!
