Culture & Cocktails at the San Diego Museum of Art, Balboa Park

Update 2: Dressing in Black & White is an option!  Here's an updated write up:

Come dressed in black and white and get ready for your close-up during a Culture & Cocktails inspired by Arnold Newman: Masterclass. View Newman's celebrated portraits of Salvador Dalí, Andy Warhol, and Marc Chagall, among others. Have your own portrait taken in a light paint photo booth or black & white portrait booth.

Take a break. Imagine yourself at a 1950s-inspired beach party: relax in a cabana, listen to the smooth tunes of DJ Dazzla, sip on an XB cocktail, and enjoy campfire-style smores, or your favorite flavor of Pinkberry.

Stay all night. Starting at 9:30 p.m., enjoy a musical performance by rapper Aki Kharmicel followed by The Egyptian Lover, a 1980s DJ and preeminent pioneer of West Coast rap. Stay for 24 hours of continuous Summer Break programming (included with C&C admission).

Update 1:  Use Discount Code "Newman" online or at the door for $2 off

It's that time for C&C again! This is always a fun and crowded event. Peruse the art and then enjoy a complementary cocktail while you mingle with the crowd!

We'll meet & mingle inside. I'll be showing up around 6:30 and hangin' by the fountain on the first level for a while so just look for my bald head and come say hi : )

*** Discounted Ticket Info: Say your with Meetup Group "Fun in San Diego" to get your $2 discount at the door!!! (This event is usually $20 or free for Museum of Art members).  If you come late, there may be a long wait if the event fills up.

Here's the write up:

The DJ spins, exotic beverages flow, artworks dazzle, and museum visitors glow at The San Diego Museum of Art's popular sundown series, Culture & Cocktails. Bring a friend, meet someone new, and experience art in a whole new way.

Culture & Cocktails are free for Supporting Museum members and above, or $20 for nonmembers. Pre-sale tickets are available until noon the day of the event, after that time they will be available at the door, as will Museum memberships.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
