Let's shop for shoes and celebrate our bargains over lunch!
Meet at Greenway Station at 10:00 to carpool out to the Shoe Box in Black Earth and then lunch at the Old Feed Mill in Mazomanie. Park in the lot behind TGIF so we can find each other.
The Shoe Box has more than 180 brands of shoes. Over 300,000 pairs of shoes in stock. One of the largest independent shoe stores in the United States!
After shoe shopping we'll drive 10 minutes away to Mazomanie for lunch at the Old Feed Mill.
The Old Feed Mill’s rich history dates back to 1857, the year Mazomanie was plotted as a village. The water-powered Lynch and Walker Flouring Mill grew to be a large regional mill. By the turn of the century, it was the leading commercial force in thriving Mazomanie. During the middle of the twentieth century, highway use flourished making railroads the primary source of shipping (and community employment) a thing of the past. People began moving elsewhere for employment. For years, the mill stood abandoned, a symbol of the town’s storied past. In the winter of 1992, the Vistes began plans to use the mill as the setting for a restaurant that would serve American Country cuisine as classic as the building that housed it. Lunch entrees range between $7.99-$12.99, not including beverage, tax and tip.The bread is made with organic stone milled grain from Taliesin, ground at the Old Feed Mill.
